PATHWAY <br />SURFACE SHALL BE LEVEL AND NOT HAVE A <br />SLOPE GREATER THAN 12 : 1 NOR A CROSS <br />SLOPE GREATER THAN 2%. THE SURFACE OF THE <br />PATH SHALL BE FIRM, STABLE AND SLIP <br />RESISTANT. THE PATHWAY SHALL BE <br />CONSTRUCTED OF CONCRETE, ASPHALT, NON <br />SLIP PLYWOOD, NON-SLIP STEEL PLATE OR <br />EQUIVLANT. SURFACE DISCONTINUITIES SHALL <br />NOT EXCEED ONE-HALF (1/2") INCH MAXIMUM. <br />PEDESTRIANS WILL BE ESCORTED THROUGH <br />AND/OR AROUND WORK AREA BY <br />CONTRACTOR IN A SAFE MANNER. <br />PEDESTRIAN MITIGATION -(WORKING HOURS) <br />PEDESTRIAN MITIGTION -(NON-WORKING HOURS) <br />1. Maintain a full and clear open lane ten (10'+) foot minimum during construction hours. Keep ac cess for emergency vehicles, <br />public services, regional transit, business and residents maintained at all times. All lanes shall be open during non-working hours. <br />2. Sign spacing and tapers based on 25 MPH = 100'-250', 35 MPH = 250'-350', 45 MPH = 350'-500'; Refer to and use CA/MUTCD 03/27/2020, REV5, CALTRANS <br />standard plans manual as a minimum standard and be in compliance with local City/County/State requirements. Remove or cover conflicting signs. <br />3. Must always monitor and maintain traffic control zones at all times. All temporary traffic control devices shall not block or impair hydrants and/or driveways/bus stops. <br />4. All signage and channelizers to be visible to approaching motorists for a minimum of 1000'. <br />NIGHT WORK: All signage and channelizers to be night visible retroreflective to approaching motorists for a minimum of 1000' feet. Signage is to be flagged <br />and/or lighted. Signs shall be designed and commercially manufactured in accordance with the most recent Caltrans standard specifications and the CA/MUTCD. <br />5. The location of the signs shown on this illustration are guidelines and actual locations will depend upon alignment (curves), grade (hills), location of street <br />intersections and 85th percentile / posted speed limits / prima facie. Temporary traffic control signage to be removed or covered during non-working hours. <br />Field adjust as needed by the trained traffic control supervisor and/or controlling authority . <br />6. All open excavations during non-working hours are to be secured with a non-skid steel plate, fenced and/or backfilled.Shoulders to have a 4:1 slope. <br />Place bump (W8-1), steel plate ahead (W8-24) and/or open trench (C27) as needed, required or directed. <br />7. Post tow away-no stopping signs with dates and/or times seventy-two (72) hours prior to the start of work. Remove or reduce control zone when the work area no longer <br />affects that area of the roadway. <br />8. Pedestrians to be detoured around the work area in a safe ADA compliant manner and in a fashion where they do not traverse private property <br />(written permission required when posting signage on private property) or are directed into travel way. Each project shall be reviewed to ensure that complete, safe, <br />useable and accessible paths-of-travel are maintained at all times during construction. <br />9. Flagger to be competent, trained and qualified per Cal Osha/Caltrans regulations. Flaggers to maintain visual and/or radio contact at all times. Each flagger shall be <br />illuminated by a light plant during hours of darkness. <br />10. Notify and coordinate with city / county / state traffic engineer when any work is preformed within two hundred feet (200') of any signalized intersection. <br />11. Notify police departments, fire departments, public services, regional transit, business and/or residents prior to any shoulder closure, lane closure and/or road closure. <br />12. No construction equipment allowed in the buffer zone and/or the transition area at any time. <br />13. Advance warning signage shall be sizes 48" x 48", on orange background with black lettering. <br />14.
