The <br />Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the <br />existing drainage. <br />Hand grinding of roadway surfacing will be required at locations where existing <br />highway and utility facilities are within the Cold Plane Pavement and Pavement Repair <br />limits. Payment for hand grinding will be considered as included in the contract unit <br />price paid for Cold Plane Pavement. <br />Core data is unavailable; however, anticipate varying layers of base and roadway <br />surfacing materials within the sectional planing depth of the existing roadway. <br />All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing <br />the final layer of HMA pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or <br />drifted onto the final layer of HMA surfacing. Where the shoulder placement exceeds <br />0.50' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing must be placed in two (2) or more fully <br />compacted layers. <br />Roadway <br />EP <br />2' 2' <br />TE <br />8% .moi <br />Conform <br />Variable Depth <br />Shoulder Backing (Typ) <br />NOTE: Reduce Shoulder Backing <br />placement to existing hinge point, <br />if the existing shoulder width is <br />less than 4 feet. <br />10. Shoulder Backing material at all intersection radii must receive Penetration Treatment <br />at 0.25 gallon/square yard. Limits of the Penetration Treatment work must be <br />confined to intersection radii plus fifty feet (50') in each direction or to the <br />intersection conform. <br />11. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench marks, <br />control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all expenses for <br />replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. <br />12. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of <br />all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24—hour notice to the <br />County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All re—testing will be <br />paid by the Contractor. <br />13. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractors responsibility to have each <br />utility company locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The <br />Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours it <br />advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number <br />(1 —800-542-2444) or 811. <br />14. The Contractor must place temporary ramps to affected residents' driveways at the <br />end of each working day if a drop off greater than 0.15' exists. Ramp materials <br />must be consistent with that of the roadbed (or roadway) surface that is to be <br />placed upon.
