GENERAL NOTES: 1. HotMix Asphalt Overlay must be placed in two (2) layers of approximately equal thickness with Geosynthetic Pavement Interlayer (Paving Fabric placed between the layers. 2. Placement of Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay must not begin until the Hot Mix Asphalt used in Pavement Repair has been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. 3. Placement of Hot Mix Asphalt Driveways must not begin until the Hot Mix Asphalt used for Mainline Paving has been completed. 4. Hand grinding of AC pavement will be required at locations where existing highway and utility facilities are within the Planing AC Pavement and Pavement Repair limits. Payment for hand grinding will be considered as included in the contract unit price paid for Planing AC Pavement. 5. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 6. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 7. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing drainage. 8. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing the final layer of Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or drifted on the final layer of Hot Mix Asphalt surfacing. Where the shoulder placement exceeds 0.50' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing must be placed in two (2) or more fully compacted layers. 9. Shoulder Backing material at all intersection radii must receive Penetration Treatment at 0.25 gallon/square yard. Limits of the Penetration Treatment work must be confined to intersection radii plus fifty feet (50') in each direction or to the intersection conform. 10. The Contractor must obtain an Encroachment Permit from the City of Stockton for traffic control or any work within the City's jurisdiction. Payment for this will be considered to be included in the various items of work. 11. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour notice to the County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All re—testing will be paid by the Contractor. 12. Before obliterating or applying any surfacing over any existing traffic stripes, pavement markings, and pavement markers to be replaced at the some location, reference the stripes, markings, and markers. Include limits and transitions with control points to reestablish the new stripes, markings, and markers. Submit your references to the control points at least 5 working days before obliterating or applying any surfacing over the stripes, markings, and markers. The contractor will be responsible for preserving all reference control points. The contractor must contact the Engineer a minimum of 2 days prior to the placement of stripes, pavement markings, and pavement markers to obtain approval for the alignment of traffic stripes and all layouts for pavement markings. A double traffic stripe consisting of two 4—inch—wide yellow stripes separated by a 3—inch—wide gap are measured as two traffic stripes. COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN �!
