GENERAL NOTES <br />1. Prior to commencing any work, it shall be the Contractor's responsibility to have <br />each utility company locate in the field their main and service lines'. The Contractor <br />shall notify the members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours in <br />advance of performing excavation work and/or sign relocation work by calling the <br />toll—free number 1-800-227-2600 or 811. <br />2. Contractor shall remove, salvage, haul and stockpile the existing bridge approach <br />MBGR and wood posts at the County's Corporation Yard located at 1810 East <br />Hazelton Avenue, Stockton, California. Contractor shall call San Joaquin County Road <br />Maintenance at (209) 468-3074 forty—eight (48) hours prior to delivering salvaged <br />materials. <br />3. The Contractor shall field verify all utility locations and depths. It shall be the <br />Contractor's sole responsibility to protect all existing utilities,so that no damage <br />results to them during the, performance of this contract. The Contractor shall be <br />requiredto cooperate with other Contractors and utility companies installing new <br />structures, utilities and services to the project. <br />4. The area above the natural ground' surface shall be cleared of all vegetation such <br />as brush, grass, weeds and other objectionable material including discarded asphalt <br />concrete, within the right—of—way project area and ditches. <br />5. Hand grinding of existing asphalt concrete pavement shall be required at locations <br />where existing utility valves, maintenance holes, gutter pan under asphalt concrete> <br />and the lip of gutter at drain inlet locations are within the construction work: limits. <br />Payment for hand; grinding asphalt concrete shall be considered as included in the <br />Planing Asphalt Concrete item of work. <br />6. Existing drainage facilities shall remain in place unless otherwise noted. The <br />Contractor shall conduct the Shoulder Backing operation so as not to disturb or <br />obstruct any existing drainage. <br />7. All earthwork, except for the final layer of Shoulder Backing, shall be completed <br />prior to placing the final layer of Asphalt Concrete surfacing. No Shoulder Backing <br />shall be deposited or drifted onto the final layer of Asphalt Concrete surfacing. <br />8. Placement of Asphalt Concrete shall not begin until the Asphalt Concrete used in <br />Pavement 'Repair has been in place for 18 "hours. <br />9. Asphalt Concrete shall be placed in two (2) layers of approximately :equal thickness <br />with pavement reinforcing fabric placed on the existing pavement or prepared <br />surface. <br />10. The Shoulder Backing material at all intersection radii shall receive Penetration <br />Treatment at 0.25 gallon/square yard, Limits of the Penetration Treatment work shall <br />be confined to intersection radii plus fifty feet (50') in each direction or to the <br />intersection conform at a 4' width. <br />15. Contractor shall be responsible for timely scheduling of inspection and testing of all <br />facilities constructed- under this contract. All testing shall conform to the Standard <br />Specifications. All re -testing shall be paid by the Contractor. <br />16. All <br />existing. <br />trees, shrubs, <br />begin until the Asphalt. <br />Concrete used for Mainline. Paving has been <br />in place: for a minimum of 18 hours. <br />13. Loam (4' wide) <br />shall be used in place of Shoulder Backing <br />at the grass frontage <br />located at Sto 151+50 <br />to Sta 153+00 (Lt). <br />Relocate <br />existing sprinkler system V <br />beyond <br />shoulder <br />backing limits.
