GENERAL NOTES 1. One week prior to the start of work, the Contractor must furnish to the Engineer a schedule showing proposed street closures on each half—day basis. No work will commence until this schedule is approved by the Engineer. 2. All intersection radii within project limits must be slurry sealed to lip of existing curb and gutter or edge of pavement. 3. Before slurry seal is to be applied to any area, the Contractor must protect all utility covers, including but not limited to maintenance holes, water valves and survey monument frames and covers. Contractor must remove protective covers after slurry seal. Full compensation must be considered as included in the unit price for Slurry—Seal Type II item of work. 4. Surface preparation work must be as directed by the Engineer. Locations and dimensions of pavement repair will be determined by the Engineer and must be in place for 18 hours prior to placing slurry seal. 8. The Contractor must perform Slurry Seal operations only on weekends on streets where schools are situated or unless allowed by written approval from the Engineer. The contractor must not begin slurry sealing a street after 1:00pm without the approval from the Resident Engineer. Speed bumps must not be slurry sealed. 9. Areas in County right—of—way used by the Contractor for staging and/or storage of materials must be approved by the Engineer. The areas utilized by the Contractor for staging and/or storage of materials must be restored to their original condition. Any damages or unclean condition to staging or storage areas must be repaired at the Contractor's own expense. It will be the Contractor's responsibility to obtain permission from the property owner to stage equipment or store materials on private property. The Contractor must provide a letter of release from the property owners) of the areas utilized for staging and/or storage of materials. 10. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 5. The aggregate for Latex Modified Slurry Seal 11. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and must be Type II, other frontage improvements must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 6. The Contractor is to remove and dispose of all existing Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes, Retro reflective Stripes, Pavement Markings, and Pavement Markers in all areas. The cost for this work is to be included in the contract price paid for Remove Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and Remove Thermoplastic Pavement Markings items of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. 7. The Contractor must routinely perform street sweeping throughout the duration of the Slurry Seal operations of the project per the specifications. Full compensation for these sweeping operations must be considered as included in the contract unit price paid for Slurry Seal—Type II item of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. The Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing drainage. 13. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities constructed under this contract. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. 14. The Contractor must obtain an Encroachment Permit from the City of Stockton, the City of Lodi, and the State of California for traffic control or any work within their respective jurisdictions. The Contractor must be responsible for all permits and licenses required for the construction and completion of the project, and must perform all work in accordance with the requirements and conditions of oil permits and approvals applicable to the project. 16. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey benchmarks, control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and will bear all expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. 17. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each utility any locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number (1-800-227-2600). 18. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations and depths. It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and soprotect all existing highway and utility facilities, that no damage results to them during the performance of this contract. The Contractor must be required to cooperate with other contractors and utility companies installing new structures, utilities and services to the project. Payment for this must be considered to be included in the various items of work. 19. Placement of "No Parking" signs/barricades must be placed no less than 72 hours prior to work.
