GENERAL NOTES <br />1. One week prior to the start of work, the <br />Contractor must furnish to the Engineer a schedule <br />showing proposed street closures on each half—day <br />basis. No work will commence until this schedule <br />is approved by the Engineer. <br />2. <br />All intersection radii <br />within project limits must <br />be <br />slurry <br />sealed to lip <br />of existing curb and gutter <br />or <br />edge <br />of pavement. <br />3. Before slurry seal is to be applied to any <br />area, the Contractor must protect all utility covers, <br />including but not limited to maintenance holes, <br />water valves and survey monument frames and <br />covers. Contractor must remove protective covers <br />after slurry seal. Full compensation must be <br />considered as included in the unit price for <br />Slurry—Seal Type II item of work. <br />4. Surface preparation work must be as directed <br />by the Engineer. Locations and dimensions of <br />pavement repair will be determined by the Engineer <br />and must be in place for 18 hours prior to placing <br />slurry seal. <br />8. The Contractor must perform Slurry Seal <br />operations only on weekends on streets where schools <br />are situated or unless allowed by written approval <br />from the Engineer. The contractor must not begin <br />slurry sealing a street after 1:00pm without the <br />approval from the Resident Engineer. Speed bumps <br />must not be slurry sealed. <br />9. Areas in County right—of—way used by the <br />Contractor for staging and/or storage of materials <br />must be approved by the Engineer. The areas <br />utilized by the Contractor for staging and/or <br />storage of materials must be restored to their <br />original condition. Any damages or unclean condition <br />to staging or storage areas must be repaired at <br />the Contractor's own expense. It will be the <br />Contractor's responsibility to obtain permission from <br />the property owner to stage equipment or store <br />materials on private property. The Contractor must <br />provide a letter of release from the property <br />owners) of the areas utilized for staging and/or <br />storage of materials. <br />10. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain <br />in place unless otherwise noted. <br />5. The aggregate for Latex Modified Slurry Seal 11. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and <br />must be Type II, other frontage improvements must remain in place <br />unless otherwise noted. <br />6. The Contractor is to remove and dispose of all <br />existing Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes, Retro reflective <br />Stripes, Pavement Markings, and Pavement Markers <br />in all areas. The cost for this work is to be <br />included in the contract price paid for Remove <br />Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and Remove <br />Thermoplastic Pavement Markings items of work and <br />no separate payment will be made therefor. <br />7. The Contractor must routinely perform street <br />sweeping throughout the duration of the Slurry Seal <br />operations of the project per the specifications. <br />Full compensation for these sweeping operations must <br />be considered as included in the contract unit price <br />paid for Slurry Seal—Type II item of work and no <br />separate payment will be made therefor. <br />COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN <br />DRAWN BY I DATE I PROJECT ENGINEER <br />E.Silva / JQuilantang 10/14 <br />12. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place <br />unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must <br />conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify <br />or obstruct the existing drainage. <br />13. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately <br />scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities <br />constructed under this contract. All testing must <br />conform to the Standard Specifications. <br />14. The Contractor must obtain an Encroachment <br />Permit from the City of Stockton, the City of Lodi, <br />and the State of California for traffic control or <br />any work within their respective jurisdictions. <br />Payment for this must be considered to be included <br />in the various items of work. <br />NO SCALE <br />DATE <br />GENERAL NOTES <br />DATE <br />15. The Contractor must be responsible for all <br />permits and licenses required for the construction <br />and completion of the project, and must perform <br />all work in accordance with the requirements and <br />conditions of oil permits and approvals applicable <br />to the project. <br />16. The Contractor must exercise due caution and <br />carefully preserve survey benchmarks, control points, <br />reference points and all survey stakes, and will <br />bear all expenses for replacement and/or errors <br />caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. <br />17. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the <br />Contractor's responsibility to have each utility <br />any locate in the field their main service lines <br />and laterals. The Contractor must notify members <br />of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours <br />in advance of performing excavation work by calling <br />the toll free number (1-800-227-2600). <br />18. The Contractor must field verify all existing <br />highway and utility facilities' locations and depths. <br />It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate <br />and <br />soprotect all existing highway and utility facilities, <br />that no damage results to them during the <br />performance of this contract. The Contractor must <br />be required to cooperate with other contractors and <br />utility companies installing new structures, utilities <br />and services to the project. Payment for this must <br />be considered to be included in the various items <br />of work. <br />19.
