GENERAL NOTES: <br />1. Existing drainage facilities shall remain in place unless otherwise noted. The Contractor shall conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing <br />drainage. <br />2. All existing trees, shrubs, fences and other frontage improvements are to remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />3. Placement of Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt overlay shall not begin until the asphalt concrete used in Pavement Repair and Roadway Widening has been in place for 12 hours. <br />4. All earthwork, except for final grading of the shoulders, shall be completed prior to placing final layer of asphalt concrete. No Shoulder Backing shall be deposited or <br />drifted on the final lift of Asphalt Concrete surfacing. Where the Shoulder Backing placement exceeds 0.30' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing shall be placed in two fully <br />compacted layers. <br />5. Embankment shall consist of Imported Borrow and excavated materials from Earthwork (Roadway Widening). Surface shall be free of Asphalt Concrete larger than 1" in <br />size and pavement reinforcing fabric. Surplus material may be spread within 6' of new edge of pavement provided there is no obstruction of existing drainage. <br />6. Shoulder Backing Material at all intersection radii shall receive penetration treatment at 0.25 gallon/square yard. Limits of the penetration treatment work shall be confined <br />to the intersection radii plus fifty feet (50') in each direction or to the intersection conform. <br />7. The Contractor shall be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities constructed under this contract. All testing shall conform to the <br />Standard Specifications.
