GENERAL NOTES 1. The Contractor must obtain all permits required for the construction and completion of the project, and must perform all work in accordance with the requirements and conditions of all permits and approvals applicable to the project. 2. The Contractor must submit a temporary traffic control plan and sidewalk closure plan to the Engineer for approval two weeks prior to construction. 3. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each utility company locate in the field their main services lines and laterals. The Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A) 48 hours in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number (1-800-642-2444). 4. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations and depths. It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all existing highway and utility facilities, so that no damage results to them during the performance of this contract. 5. Match new joint and score mark spacing to existing Crack Control Joints whenever possible. 6. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 7. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 8. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing drainage. 9. All Minor Concrete (Curb, Gutter & Sidewalk) work that is to be removed will be saw cut or removed to the limits shown on the plans. The cost of saw cutting will be considered as paid for under the various items of work involved. 10. All new Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk must conform to the existing flowline elevations with a straight grade between conforms unless otherwise noted. 11. Install Expansion Joints at beginning and end of new Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk and between new sidewalks and existing driveways. 12. Existing sprinkler systems, or portions thereof, will be maintained or protected during construction operations. Any damage to the existing system must be repaired within 48 hours at the Contractor's expense. Upon completion of the work, the Contractor must restore the sprinkler system to its original condition. 13. The Contractor must perform all related work on streets where schools are situated, on weekends or when school is not in session, unless allowed by written approval from the Engineer. 14. Placement of temporary "No Parking" signs must be installed at a minimum of 24 hours prior to work. Contractor is responsible for contacting adjacent property owner(s) to arrange for access as necessary.
