Placement of HMA Overlay must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair <br />has been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. <br />3. Placement of HMA Driveways must not begin until the HMA used for Mainline Paving <br />has been completed. <br />4. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />5. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must <br />remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />6. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The <br />Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the <br />existing drainage. <br />7. Hand grinding of roadway surfacing will be required at locations where existing <br />highway and utility facilities are within the Cold Plane Pavement and Pavement Repair <br />limits. Payment for hand grinding will be considered as included in the contract unit <br />price paid for Cold Plane Pavement. <br />8. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing <br />the final layer of HMA pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or <br />drifted onto the final layer of HMA surfacing. Where the shoulder placement exceeds <br />0.50' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing must be placed in two (2) or more fully <br />compacted layers. <br />9. Shoulder Backing material at all intersection radii must receive Penetration Treatment <br />at 0.25 gallon/square yard. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of <br />all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24-hour prior notice to <br />the County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All re—testing will <br />be paid by the Contractor. <br />11. The Contractor must obtain an Encroachment Permit from the City of Ripon for <br />placement for performing traffic control or placing traffic control devices in their <br />jurisdiction. Payment for this will be considered to be included in the various items <br />of work involved. <br />12. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench marks, <br />control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all expenses <br />for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. <br />13. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each <br />utility company locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The <br />Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours <br />in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number <br />(1-800-642-2444) or 811. <br />14. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations <br />and depths. It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all <br />existing highway and utility facilities, so that no damage results to them during the <br />performance of this contract. The Contractor will be required to cooperate with <br />other contractors and utility companies installing new structures, utilities and <br />services to the project.
