m <br />r- <br />rn <br />I <br />0 <br />11, u <br />1. 0.25' HMA Overlay must be placed in two (2) layers of approximately equal <br />thickness with Geosynthetic Pavement Interlayer (Paving Fabric) placed between the <br />layers. <br />2. Pavement core data is unavailable; however, anticipate varying layers of base and <br />roadway surfacing materials within the sectional planing depth of the existing <br />roadway. <br />3. Placement of HMA Overlay must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair <br />has been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. <br />4. Placement of HMA Driveways must not begin until the HMA used for Mainline Paving <br />has been completed. <br />5. Existing highway and utility facilities must- remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />6. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must <br />remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />7. Existing drainage facilities mu3t remain in place unless otherwise noted. The <br />Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the <br />existing drainage. <br />8. Hand grinding of roadway surfacing will be required at locations where existing <br />highway and utility facilities are within the Cold Plane Pavement and Pavement <br />Repair limits. Payment for hand grinding will be considered as included in the <br />contract unit price paid for Cold Plane Pavement. <br />9. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing <br />the final layer of HMA pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or <br />drifted on the final layer of HMA surfacing. Where the shoulder placement exceeds <br />0.50' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing must be placed in two (2) or more fully <br />compacted layers. <br />10. All improvements within the Minor Concrete (Curb) work limits must be saw cut or <br />removed to the limits shown on the Plans. <br />COUNTY OF SAN T(lA(lT TTI�T _ <br />DRAWN BY DATE PROJECT ENGINEER <br />11. For all HMA (Miscellaneous Areas) at median, use 3/8—inch Type A HMA aggregate <br />gradation and asphalt binder Grade PG -64-10. <br />12. Shoulder Backing material at all intersection radii must receive Penetration <br />Treatment at 0.25 gallon/square yard. Limits of the Penetration Treatment work <br />must be confined to intersection radii plus fifty feet (50') in each direction or to <br />the intersection conform. <br />13. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing <br />of all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour prior <br />notice to the County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All <br />re—testing will be paid by the Contractor. <br />14. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench <br />marks, control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all <br />expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or <br />disturbance. <br />15. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have <br />each utility company locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The <br />Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours <br />in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number <br />(1-800-642-2444) or 81 1 . <br />16. There will be no work performed on bridges, major structures or minor structures <br />throughout the project limits except where PCC Curb and/or HMA Dike is designated <br />for replacement. All bridge conforms will be up to the bridge deck only. <br />17. Place top soil as needed where grass or sod abuts the Edge of Pavement (EP). <br />18.
