Rubberized Chip Seal (RCS) must be placed in a single layer on existing or prepared <br />asphalt concrete pavement surface. RCS must conform to all intersection radii within <br />project limits, including existing edge of pavement, face of dike, or lip of curb and gutter. <br />No RCS is allowed on existing bridge decks and Portland Cement Concrete surfaces <br />including pavement, railroad crossing, etc. 8 <br />2. Screenings must have fine gradation of 8" maximum . <br />3. One week prior to the start of work, the Contractor must furnish to the Engineer a <br />schedule showing proposed street closures on each half-day basis. No work will <br />commence until this schedule is approved by the Engineer. <br />4. The Contractor is to remove all Pavement Markers, prior to RCS being applied to any area <br />Full compensation must be considered as included in the contract unit price for Hot Mix <br />Asphalt item of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. <br />5. Temporary reflective raised markers must be placed in accordance with the <br />manufacturer's instructions, unless instructed differently by the engineer. Temporary <br />reflective raised pavement markers must be cemented to the surfacing with the adhesive <br />recommended by the manufacturer, except epoxy adhesive must not be used. In <br />addition, these markers must be nailed to the pavement to assist in holding them in <br />place. Washers must be used to keep the nails from pulling through the markers. Full <br />compensation must be considered as included in the contract unit price for RCS item of <br />work and no separate payment will be made therefor. <br />6. Surface preparation work must be as directed by the Engineer. Locations and dimensions <br />of pavement repair will be determined by the Engineer and must be placed 18 hours prior <br />to placing RCS. <br />7. The Contractor is to remove and dispose all existing Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and <br />Pavement Markings in all areas. Full compensation must be considered as <br />included in the contract unit price for Remove Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and Pavement <br />Markings item of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. <br />On Howard Road and Tracy Boulevard, prior to RCS being applied to the roadway, Rwmble <br />Strips must be ground -in adjacent to the location of the existing rumble strips. The new <br />rumble strips must be located outside of existing fog lines and on either side of the <br />existing centerline. Full compensation must be considered as included in the contract <br />unit price for Rumble Strip (AC, Ground -in Indentations) item of work and no separate <br />payment will be made therefor. <br />The Contractor must perform RCS operations only on weekends on streets where schools <br />are situated or unless allowed by written approval from the Engineer. The Contractor <br />must not begin to RCS a street after 1:00 pm without the approval from the Engineer. <br />Areas in County right-of-way used by Contractor for staging and/or storage of materials <br />will be approved by the Engineer. The areas utilized by the Contractor for staging and/or <br />storage area must be restored to their original condition. Any damages or unclean <br />conditions to staging or storage areas must be repaired at the Contractor's own expense. <br />It will be the Contractor's responsibility to obtain permission from the property owner to <br />stage equipment or store materials on private property. The Contractor must provide a <br />letter of release from the property owner of the areas utilized for staging and/or storage <br />of materials. <br />11. Traffic delays due to construction operations must not exceed 10 minutes, ora mile of <br />vehicle queue, whichever occurs first. <br />12.
