Rubberized Chip Seal (RCS) must be placed in a single layer on existing or prepared asphalt concrete pavement surface. RCS must conform to all intersection radii within project limits, including existing edge of pavement, face of dike, or lip of curb and gutter. No RCS is allowed on existing bridge decks and Portland Cement Concrete surfaces including pavement, railroad crossing, etc. 8 2. Screenings must have fine gradation of 8" maximum . 3. One week prior to the start of work, the Contractor must furnish to the Engineer a schedule showing proposed street closures on each half-day basis. No work will commence until this schedule is approved by the Engineer. 4. The Contractor is to remove all Pavement Markers, prior to RCS being applied to any area Full compensation must be considered as included in the contract unit price for Hot Mix Asphalt item of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. 5. Temporary reflective raised markers must be placed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, unless instructed differently by the engineer. Temporary reflective raised pavement markers must be cemented to the surfacing with the adhesive recommended by the manufacturer, except epoxy adhesive must not be used. In addition, these markers must be nailed to the pavement to assist in holding them in place. Washers must be used to keep the nails from pulling through the markers. Full compensation must be considered as included in the contract unit price for RCS item of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. 6. Surface preparation work must be as directed by the Engineer. Locations and dimensions of pavement repair will be determined by the Engineer and must be placed 18 hours prior to placing RCS. 7. The Contractor is to remove and dispose all existing Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and Pavement Markings in all areas. Full compensation must be considered as included in the contract unit price for Remove Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes and Pavement Markings item of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. On Howard Road and Tracy Boulevard, prior to RCS being applied to the roadway, Rwmble Strips must be ground -in adjacent to the location of the existing rumble strips. The new rumble strips must be located outside of existing fog lines and on either side of the existing centerline. Full compensation must be considered as included in the contract unit price for Rumble Strip (AC, Ground -in Indentations) item of work and no separate payment will be made therefor. The Contractor must perform RCS operations only on weekends on streets where schools are situated or unless allowed by written approval from the Engineer. The Contractor must not begin to RCS a street after 1:00 pm without the approval from the Engineer. Areas in County right-of-way used by Contractor for staging and/or storage of materials will be approved by the Engineer. The areas utilized by the Contractor for staging and/or storage area must be restored to their original condition. Any damages or unclean conditions to staging or storage areas must be repaired at the Contractor's own expense. It will be the Contractor's responsibility to obtain permission from the property owner to stage equipment or store materials on private property. The Contractor must provide a letter of release from the property owner of the areas utilized for staging and/or storage of materials. 11. Traffic delays due to construction operations must not exceed 10 minutes, ora mile of vehicle queue, whichever occurs first. 12. Place one Monument Frame and Cover on Copperopolis Road at Bern Road if Additive Bid A is included in the Project (see Additive Bid A Summary of Quantities).
