<br />5. THE CONTRACTOR'S ATTENTION IS DIRECTED TO SECTION 1541
<br />(A)(1) OF THE CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORDERS (TITLE 8
<br />CALIFORNIA ADMINISTRATION CODE SECTION 1541), ISSUED BY
<br />THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETYAND HEALTH STANDARDS BOARD
<br />PURSUANT TO THE CALIFORNIA OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND
<br />HEALTH ACT OF 1973, AS AMENDED, WHICH STATES:
<br />PRIOR TO OPENING AN EXCAVATION, EFFORT SHALL BE MADE TO
<br />DETERMINE WHETHER UNDERGROUND INSTALLATION: I.E.,
<br />SEWER, WATER, FUEL, ELECTRIC LINES, ETC., WILL BE
<br />ENCOUNTERED AND, IF SO, WHERE SUCH UNDERGROUND
<br />INSTALLATIONS ARE LOCATED. WHEN THE EXCAVATION
<br />APPROACHES THE APPROXIMATE LOCATION OF SUCH AN
<br />INSTALLATION, THE EXACT LOCATION SHALL BE DETERMINED BY
<br />CAREFUL PROBING OR AND DIGGING; AND WHEN IT IS
<br />UNCOVERED, ADEQUATE PROTECTION SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR

<br />6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SHORING, BRACING, SLOPING
<br />OR PROVISIONS TO PROTECT WORKERS FOR ALL AREAS TO BE
<br />EXCAVATED TO A DEPTH OF FOUR FEET OR MORE. SAID
<br />PROTECTION TO BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
<br />REQUIREMENTS OF LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL REGULATIONS
<br />(CAL -OSHA, OSHA).
<br />7. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATION OF
<br />THE REMOVAL AND/OR RELOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES
<br />WITH RESPECTIVE UTILITY COMPANIES. CONTRACTOR SHALL
<br />NOTIFY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE OF ANY CONFLICTS
<br />BETWEEN EXISTING UTILITIES AND PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS.
<br />8. FINAL PAVEMENT WORK SHALL NOT OCCUR PRIOR TO
<br />COMPLETION OF UTILITY RELOCATION WITHOUT SPECIFIC
<br />APPROVAL OF THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
<br />9 ASBESTOS CEMENT MATERIALS SHALL NOT BE USED IN THE
<br />CONSTRUCTION OF ANY FACILITIES WITHIN THIS PROJECT.
<br />10. PRIOR TO PLACEMENT OF ANY FINISH ASPHALT CONCRETE OR
<br />CONCRETE THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL FINISH GRADES
<br />AND SLOPES FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE AMERICANS WITH
<br />DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) AND APPROVAL AND ACCEPTANCE BY
<br />COUNTY.
<br />11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FIELD
<br />CHANGES MADE WITHOUT WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM THE
<br />OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
<br />12. DURING CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THE
<br />INTEGRITY OF EXISTING FACILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR IS
<br />RESPONSIBLE TO REPAIR, TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE
<br />PROJECT ENGINEER AND SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, ANY FACILITIES
<br />DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.
<br />13. CONTRACTOR SHALL REFERENCE EXISTING MONUMENTS AND/OR
<br />PROPERTY CORNER PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK.
<br />14. WHERE EXISTING FENCES ARE TO BE REMOVED FOR
<br />CONSTRUCTION PURPOSES CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE AND
<br />REPLACE THE FENCING IN KIND. WHERE THE EXISTING FENCE IS
<br />USED FOR PROPERTY SECURITY AND/OR CONTAINMENT
<br />CONTRACTOR SHALL ERECT TEMPORARY FENCING (NOT SHOWN
<br />ON PLANS) DURING CONSTRUCTION AS DIRECTED BY THE
<br />OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE.
<br />15. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PERMITS AND

<br />CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
<br />1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL LAYOUT IMPROVEMENTS FROM THE
<br />DIMENSIONS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS. ANY CLARIFICATION ON
<br />CONFLICTS, DISCREPANCIES OR AMBIGUITIES SHOULD BE
<br />DIRECTED TO THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TO THE

<br />5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN TEMPORARY
<br />SIGNS FOR ALL REGULATORY TRAFFIC SIGNS REMOVED DURING
<br />THE CONSTRUCTION.
<br />6. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT DISTURB OR DISRUPT EXISTING
<br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENTS/EQUIPMENT INCLUDING, BUT
<br />NOT LIMITED TO POLES, PEDESTALS, DETECTOR LOOPS, PULL
<br />BOXES AND FOUNDATIONS.
<br />7. DURING CONSTRUCTION ALL CATCH BASINS AND DROP INLETS
<br />SHALL BE PROTECTED USING STORM DRAIN INLET FILTER BAGS
<br />AND EITHER A STORM DRAIN INLET FILTER OR INLET SEDIMENT
<br />CONTROL. SEE EROSION CONTROL DETAILS ON SHEET 7.
<br />8. IT IS PROHIBITED TO DISCHARGE ANYTHING EXCEPT CLEAN
<br />WATER INTO THE STORM DRAIN SYSTEM.
<br />9. CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE
<br />RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE
<br />OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT INCLUDING SAFETY FOR
<br />ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY AND THAT THIS REQUIREMENT
<br />SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD THE OWNERS, SAN
<br />JOAQUIN COUNTY, AND ENGINEER HARMLESS FORM ANY AND ALL
<br />LIABILITY, REAL OR ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE
<br />PERFORMANCE OF THIS WORK ON THIS PROJECT.
<br />POLLUTION AND DUST CONTROL:
<br />1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP THE WORK SITE FREE AND CLEAR
<br />OF RUBBISH AND DEBRIS.
<br />2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE CARE TO PRESERVE AND
<br />PROTECT NATURAL HABITAT ADJACENT TO THE PROJECT SITE.
<br />3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT DISCHARGE SMOKE, DUST, OR
<br />ANY OTHER AIR CONTAMINANTS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE IN SUCH
<br />A QUANTITY AS WILL VIOLATE THE REGULATIONS OF ANY LEGALLY
<br />CONSTITUTED AUTHORITY.
<br />4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP ALL AREAS GENERATING DUST
<br />WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE PROJECT WELL WATERED DURING THE
<br />TERM OF THIS CONTRACT. THIS INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO
<br />ACCESS RAMPS, THE HAUL ROADS, THE EMBANKMENT FILL AREA,
<br />AND ANY OTHER AREAS THAT MAY GENERATE DUST AS A RESULT
<br />OF CONTRACTOR'S OPERATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
<br />PROVIDE DUST CONTROL MEASURES DURING EVENINGS,
<br />WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS WHEN REQUESTED BY THE COUNTY.
<br />5. THE CONTRACTOR(S) SHALL KEEP ALL PUBLIC ROADWAYS
<br />ADJACENT TO THE PROJECT SITE FREE AND CLEAR OF MUD AND
<br />SILT DURING THE TERM OF THIS CONTRACT. THIS INCLUDES MUD
<br />CAUSED BY RAIN OR BY THE CONTRACTOR(S) WATERING
<br />PROCEDURES FOR DUST CONTROL.
<br />6. THROUGHOUT ALL PHASES OF CONSTRUCTION, INCLUDING
<br />SUSPENSION OF WORK, AND UNTIL FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE
<br />PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL KEEP THE PREMISES
<br />OCCUPIED BYTHEM IN A CLEAN AND ORDERLY CONDITION,
<br />DISPOSING OF REFUSE AND LITTER IN A MANNER SATISFACTORY
<br />TO THE COUNTY.
<br />GRADING NOTES:
<br />1. EARTHWORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SAN
<br />JOAQUIN COUNTY STANDARDS AND THE SOILS REPORT BY
<br />RANEY GEOTECHNICAL INC., JOB NO. 146-630. SPECIFICALLY, FILL
<br />MATERIALS SHOULD BE COMPACTED TO AT LEAST 95% OF THE
<br />MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY OR AS OUTLINED IN SOILS REPORT.
