Pavement core data is unavailable; however, anticipate varying layers of base and roadway surfacing <br />materials within the sectional planing depth of the existing roadway. <br />3. Placement of HMA Overlay must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair has been in place for a <br />minimum of 18 hours. <br />4. Placement of HMA driveways must not begin until the HMA used for Mainline Paving has been completed. <br />5. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />6. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must remain in place unless <br />otherwise noted. <br />7. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must conduct <br />earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing drainage. <br />8. Hand grinding of roadway surfacing will be required at locations where existing highway and utility facilities <br />are within the Remove Subbase, Base and Surfacing and Pavement Repair limits. Payment for hand grinding <br />will be considered as included in the contract unit price paid for Remove Subbase, Base and Surfacing. <br />9. Asphalt Concrete Speed Cushions, on Bern Road, to be removed and replaced per the Speed Cushion Detail <br />(Sheet No. 5) and is to be paid under Place Hot Mix Asphalt (Miscellaneous Areas). <br />10. Placement of the Speed Cushions under "Place Hot Mix Asphalt (Miscellaneous Areas)" bid item of work, <br />must be completed in place, a maximum of 18 hours after placing the final layer of HMA pavement for the <br />mainline. <br />11. Shoulder Backing material at all intersection radii must receive Penetration Treatment at 0.25 gallon/square <br />yard. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing the final layer of HMA <br />pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or drifted onto the final layer of HMA surfacing. <br />Where the shoulder placement exceeds 0.50' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing must be placed in two (2) <br />or more fully compacted layers. <br />13. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities constructed <br />under this contract with a minimum 24 hour prior notice to the County. All testing must conform to the <br />Standard Specifications. All re—testing will be paid by the Contractor. <br />14. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench marks, control points, <br />reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by <br />their unnecessary loss or disturbance. <br />15. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractors responsibility to have each utility company locate <br />in the field their main service lines and laterals. The Contractor must notify members of the Underground <br />Service Alert (U.SA) 48 hours in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number <br />(1-800-542-2444) or 811. <br />16. Roadways, or segments thereof, that are less than 20 feet in paved width may be temporarily closed during <br />construction activities. Schedule of closure(s) must be approved by the Engineer. Contractor must provide <br />a two weeks advance notice to all affected residents, services, school, etc. of the scheduled closure. <br />Content of public notification must be approved by the Engineer. <br />17. The Contractor must place temporary ramps to affected residents' driveways at the end of each working day <br />if a drop off greater than 0.15' exists. Ramp materials must be consistent with that of the roadbed (or <br />roadway) surface that is to be placed upon.
