GENERAL NOTES: <br />1. 0.25' HMA Overlay must be placed in two (2) layers of approximately equal thickness <br />on the prepared surface. <br />2. Core data is unavailable; however, anticipate varying layers of base and roadway <br />surfacing materials within the sectional planing depth of the existing roadway. <br />3. Placement of HMA Overlay must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair has <br />been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. <br />4. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />5. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must <br />remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />6. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The <br />Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the <br />existing drainage. <br />7. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing <br />the final layer of HMA pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or <br />drifted on the final layer of NMA surfacing. Where the shoulder placement exceeds <br />0.50' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing must be placed in two (2) or more fully <br />compacted layers. <br />8. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of <br />all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour prior notice to <br />the County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All re—testing will <br />be paid by the Contractor. <br />9. Hand grinding of Roadway Surfacing will be required at locations where existing <br />highway and utility facilities are within the Planing Roadway Surfacing and Pavement <br />Repair limits. Refer to the City of <br />Stockton's Standards <br />for adjusting facilities to grade. <br />11. <br />The Contractor must <br />obtain all permits and licen es required for the construction and <br />completion of the project, and must perform all work in accordance with the <br />requirements and conditions <br />of all permits and approvals applicable to the project. <br />12. <br />The Contractor must <br />exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench marks, <br />control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all expenses for <br />replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. <br />13. <br />Prior to commencing <br />any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each <br />utility company locate <br />in the field their main service lines and laterals. The Contractor <br />must notify members <br />of the Underground Service Alert (USA) 48 hours in advance of <br />performing excavation <br />work by calling the toll free number (1-800-642-2444) or <br />811. <br />14. <br />The Contractor must <br />field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations and <br />depths. It will be the <br />Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all existing <br />highway and utility facilities, <br />so that no damage results to them during the <br />performance of this contract. The Contactor will be required to cooperate with other <br />contractors and utility companies installing new structures, utilities and services to the <br />project.
