GENERAL NOTES: 1. 0.25' HMA Overlay must be placed in two (2) layers of approximately equal thickness on the prepared surface. 2. Core data is unavailable; however, anticipate varying layers of base and roadway surfacing materials within the sectional planing depth of the existing roadway. 3. Placement of HMA Overlay must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair has been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. 4. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 5. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 6. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing drainage. 7. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing the final layer of HMA pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or drifted on the final layer of NMA surfacing. Where the shoulder placement exceeds 0.50' in thickness, the Shoulder Backing must be placed in two (2) or more fully compacted layers. 8. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour prior notice to the County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All re—testing will be paid by the Contractor. 9. Hand grinding of Roadway Surfacing will be required at locations where existing highway and utility facilities are within the Planing Roadway Surfacing and Pavement Repair limits. Payment for hand grinding will be considered as included in the contract unit price paid for Planing Roadway Surfacing. The Contractor must notify the City of Stockton—MUD at (209) 937-8706 72 hours in advance of adjusting the City of Stockton's facilities to grade. Refer to the City of Stockton's Standards for adjusting facilities to grade. 11. The Contractor must obtain all permits and licen es required for the construction and completion of the project, and must perform all work in accordance with the requirements and conditions of all permits and approvals applicable to the project. 12. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench marks, control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. 13. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each utility company locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (USA) 48 hours in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number (1-800-642-2444) or 811. 14. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations and depths. It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all existing highway and utility facilities, so that no damage results to them during the performance of this contract. The Contactor will be required to cooperate with other contractors and utility companies installing new structures, utilities and services to the project.
