Prior to commencing any work, it shall be the Contractor's responsibility to have each utility company locate in the field their main and service lines. The Contractor shall notify members of the Underground Services Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours in advance of performing any excavation work by calling the toll—free number (800) 227-2600 or 811. 2. The Contractor shall field verify all utilities locations and depths. Water and gas lines are shown at approximate locations on plans. It shall be the Contractor's sole responsibility to protect all existing utilities, so that no damage results to them during the performance of this contract. 3. The Contractor shall exercise due caution and shall carefully preserve bench marks, reference points and all survey stakes and shall bear all expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. 4. All mailboxes within the project limits shall be relocated by the Contractor. During the mailbox relocation work, all mailboxes shall be accessible for mail delivery. See plans for locations. 5. All existing trees, shrubs, fences, concrete walks and other frontage improvements are to remain in place unless otherwise noted. 6. Quantity paid for curb, gutter and sidewalk in linear feet is measured along the flow line of the gutter pan. 7. The Contractor shall be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing at all facilities constructed under this contract. All testing shall conform to the standard specification. All re—testing shall be paid by the Contractor. 8. Locations of utilities shown on plans are approximate. Gas lines depths are not shown on profile. It shall be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all existing utilities. 9. All stop signs/legends/markings removed for construction purposes shall be replaced and maintained with approved temporary traffic control devices and/or markings. 10. Any damage to sprinklers shall be repaired within twenty—four (24) hours at Contractor's expense. 11. All pipe fitting, joint, and tapping gate valve connections shall be hot tapped to prevent water shut off from residents and business locations. The price for hot tapping and connecting existing water lin- shall be included in the price per linear feet of 8" Dia. Class 200 PVC pipe and no additional compensation will be allowed. 12. Thrust blocks shall be used on all bends and tees, unless noted otherwise. 13. Actual connections to existing water lines shall not be permitted prior to the completion of sterilization and testing of new water mains. All existing water valves to be operated by the water division of the regulatory agency personnel only. 14. All manhole rims, lampholes, valves and monument boxes, etc. shall be adjusted to finish grade after street paving, unless otherwise noted.
