GENERAL NOTES: 1. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each utility company locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number (1-800-227-2600). 2. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations and depths. It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all existing highway and utility facilities, so that no damage results to them during the performance of this contract. The Contractor will be required to cooperate with other contractors and utility companies installing new structures, utilities and services to the project. Payment for this work will be considered to be included in the various items of work. 3. The Contractor must obtain an Encroachment Permit from the State of California for traffic control or any work within the State's jurisdiction. Payment for this will be considered to be included in the various items of work. 4. Placement of Hot Mix Asphalt Overlay must not begin until the Hot Mix Asphalt used in Pavement Repair has been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. 5. Placement of Hot Mix Asphalt Driveways must not begin until the Hot Mix Asphalt used for Mainline Paving has been completed. 6. Existing highway and utility facilities, trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must remain in place unless otherwise noted. 7. Existing drainage facilities (concrete headwall, culvert, etc.) must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing drainage. 8. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing the final layer of Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or drifted on the final layer of Hot Mix Asphalt surfacing. All testing must conform to the Standard .D Specifications.
