q <br />M1 <br />GENERAL NOTES: <br />1. One week prior to the start of work, the Contractor <br />must furnish to the Engineer a schedule showing <br />proposed street closures on each half—day basis. No <br />work will commence until this schedule <br />is approved by the Engineer. <br />2. All intersection radii within project limits must <br />be slurry sealed to lip of existing curb and gutter or <br />edge of pavement. <br />3. Before slurry seal is to be applied to any area, the <br />Contractor must protect all utility covers, including but <br />not limited to maintenance holes, water valves and survey <br />monument frames and covers. Contractor must remove <br />protective covers after slurry seal. Full compensation will <br />be considered as included in the unit price for Slurry <br />Seal (Type II) item of work. <br />4. Surface preparation work must be as directed <br />by the Engineer. Locations and dimensions of pavement <br />repair will be determined by the Engineer and must be in <br />place for 18 hours prior to placing slurry seal. <br />5. The aggregate for Slurry Seal must be Type II. <br />6. The Contractor is to remove and dispose of all <br />existing Thermoplastic Traffic Stripes, Retroreflective <br />Stripes, Pavement Markings, and Pavement Markers in all <br />areas. <br />7. The Contractor must routinely perform street <br />sweeping throughout the duration of the Slurry Seal <br />operations of the project per the specifications. <br />Full compensation for these sweeping operations must be <br />considered as included in the contract unit price paid for <br />Slurry Seal (Type II) item of work and no separate <br />payment will be made therefore. <br />8. The Contractor must perform Slurry Seal <br />operations only on weekends on streets where schools <br />are situated or unless allowed by written approval <br />from the Engineer. The contractor must not begin <br />slurry sealing a street after 1:00pm without the <br />approval from the Resident Engineer. Speed bumps <br />must not be slurry sealed. <br />COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN <br />9. Areas in County right—of—way used by the Contractor <br />for staging and/or storage of materials must be <br />approved by the Engineer. The areas utilized by the <br />Contractor for staging and/or storage of materials must <br />be restored to their original condition. Any damages or <br />unclean condition to staging or storage areas must be <br />repaired at the Contractor's own expense. It will be the <br />Contractor's responsibility to obtain permission from the <br />property owner to stage equipment or store materials on <br />private property. The Contractor must provide a letter of <br />release from the property owner(s) of the areas utilized <br />for staging and/or storage of materials. <br />10. Placement of "No Parking" signs/barricades must be <br />placed no less than 72 hours prior to work. <br />11. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in <br />place unless otherwise noted. <br />12. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other <br />frontage improvements must remain in place unless <br />otherwise noted. <br />13. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place <br />unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must conduct <br />earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the <br />existing drainage. <br />14. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately <br />scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities <br />constructed under this contract. All testing must conform <br />to the Standard Specifications. <br />15. The Contractor must obtain an Encroachment Permit <br />from the City of Stockton, the City of Lodi, the City of <br />Tracy, and the State of California for traffic control or <br />any work within their respective jurisdictions. Payment for <br />this must be considered to be included in the various <br />items of work. <br />16. The Contractor must be responsible for all permits <br />and licenses required for the construction and completion <br />of the project, and must perform all work in accordance <br />with the requirements and conditions of all permits and <br />approvals applicable to the project. <br />NO SCALE <br />DRAWN BY DATE PROJECT ENGINEER DATE CHECKED <br />GENERAL NOTES <br />DATE <br />17. The Contractor must exercise due caution and <br />carefully preserve survey benchmarks, control points, <br />reference points and all survey stakes, and will bear all <br />expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by their <br />unnecessary loss or disturbance. <br />18. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the <br />Contractor's responsibility to have each utility company <br />locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. <br />The Contractor must notify members of the Underground <br />Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours in advance of performing <br />excavation work by calling the toll free number <br />(1 —800-227-2600). <br />19. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway <br />and utility facilities' locations and depths. It will be the <br />Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all <br />existing highway and utility facilities, so that no damage <br />results to them during the performance of this contract. <br />The Contractor must be required to cooperate with other <br />contractors and utility companies installing new structures, <br />utilities and services to the project.
