Prior <br />to commencing <br />any work, it will be <br />the Contractor's responsibility to have each <br />utility <br />company locate <br />in the field their main <br />service lines and laterals. The Contractor <br />must <br />notify members <br />of the Underground <br />Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours in advance of <br />performing excavation <br />work by calling the <br />toll free number (1-800-227-2600). <br />2. The Contractor must field verify all existing highway and utility facilities' locations and <br />depths. It will be the Contractor's sole responsibility to locate and protect all existing <br />highway and utility facilities, so that no damage results to them during the performance <br />of this contract. The Contractor will be required to cooperate with other contractors <br />and utility companies installing new structures, utilities and services to the project. <br />Payment for this work will be considered to be included in the various items of work. <br />3. The Contractor must place temporary ramps to affected residents' driveways at the end <br />of each working day if a drop off greater than 0.15' exists. Ramp materials must be <br />consistent with that of the roadbed (or roadway) surface that it is to be placed upon. <br />Payment for this work will be considered as included in the various items of work. <br />4. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />5. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must remain <br />in place unless otherwise noted. <br />6. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of all <br />facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour notice to the County. <br />All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications.
