The asphalt binder for the HMA Type A must be PG 70-10 for Mainline Paving and Pavement Repairs and must be PG 64-10 for Driveways. 0.25' HMA Overlay must be placed in two (2) layers of approximately equal thickness. Placement of HMA Overlay must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair has been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. Placement of HMA Driveways must not begin until the HMA used for Mainline Paving has been completed. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must remain in place unless otherwise noted. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the existing drainage. Hand grinding of roadway surfacing pavement will be required at locations where existing highway and utility facilities are within the Remove Subbase, Base and Surfacing and Pavement Repair limits. Payment for hand grinding will be considered as included in the contract unit price paid for Remove Subbase, Base and Surfacing. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing the final layer of HMA pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or drifted on the final layer of HMA surfacing. Shoulder Backing material at all intersection radii must receive Penetration Treatment at 0.25 gallon/square yard. Limits of the Penetration Treatment work must be confined to intersection radii plus fifty feet (50') in each direction or to the intersection conform. 12. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing of all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour prior notice to the County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All re—testing will be paid by the Contractor. 13. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each utility company locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number (1-800-642-2444) or 811. 14. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench marks, control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or disturbance. 15. The road will be closed to through public traffic; however, access to local residents will be maintained at all times. Detour signs will be placed by County forces and maintained by the Contractor until the project is completed. 16. The Contractor must place temporary ramps to affected residents' driveways at the end of each working day if a drop off greater than 0.15' exists. Ramp materials must be consistent with that of the roadbed (or roadway) surface that is to be placed upon. Payment for this work will be considered as included in the various items of work involved. 17. Core data is unavailable; however, anticipate varying layers of base and roadway surfacing materials within the sectional planing depth of the existing roadway.
