Install bolts, clamps, wedges, guy lines, struts or other suitable devices to hold girder <br />sections in alignment and in such o manner os to allow normo/ shrinkage movement <br />in the girder splice weld. <br />2. Preheat flanges /2" in both directions from centerline of butt joint between 300 "F and 4000 F. <br />J. Weld girder flanges top and bottom complete maintaining preheat. <br />4. Hold preheat of flanges to 200 0 F minimum. Preheat web plate for 6 " to 8" each side <br />of centerline of the butt joint to o maximum of 200" F. Mointain the preheat and <br />weld web butt joint. Sequence of web give weld moy be bockstep, coscode or intermittent <br />so as to balance the applied web heat to the heat of the flanges, thus minimizing the <br />shrinkoge stresses. <br />5. After completion of web groove weld the remaining fillet welds between web and flanges <br />shall be completed. <br />6.
