<br />THE VERTICAL PUMP SUPPORTING COLUMN AND DISCHARGE ELBOW SHALL BE MADE OF
<br />1/4' THICK WELDED PLATE STEEL. THE DISCHARGE OPENING SHALL BE
<br />A FLANGED TYPE COUPLING SUITABLE FOR CONNECTION TO THE DISCHARGE
<br />PIPE. THE DISCHARGE ELBOW SHALL BE OF THE LONG -SWEEP TYPE CONSISTING OF AT
<br />LEAST THREE SECTIONS ANU SHALL BEhyeDK GAVW DISCHARGE. ALL COLUMN FITTINGS
<br />SHALL BE FLANGED.
<br />THE MOTOR MOUNTING STAND SHALL BE WELDED TO UPPER END OF DISCHARGE ELBOW
<br />AND SHALL BE OF SUFFICIENT SIZE AND WEIGHT TO ACCOMMODATE PROPER DRIVER.
<br />THE PUMP MOUNTING PLATE SHALL BE WELDED TO DISCHARGE ELL AND SHALL BE OF
<br />SUFFICIENT SIZE AND THICKNESS TO SUPPORT THE FULL WEIGHT OF THE PUMP UNIT AND
<br />DRIVER PLUS THE WEIGHT OF THE LIQUID IN THE DISCHARGE COLUMN AND ELBOW PLUS
<br />THE HYDRAULIC DOWN THRUST.
<br />THE SUCTION BELL AND PUMP BOWL SHALL BE MADE OF CLOSE -GRAINED CLASS 35
<br />CAST IRON AND SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR EASY REMOVAL OF THE IMPELLERS AND BEARINGS.
<br />THE SUCTION BELL SHALL HAVE A FLARED INLET DESIGNED TO REDUCE ENTRANCE LOSSES
<br />AND A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF VANES TO SUPPORT THE LOWER GUIDE BEARINGS AS WELL
<br />AS TO SUSTAIN THE WEIGHT OF THE IMPELLER AND PUMP SHAFT WHEN DISMANTLING THE
<br />PUMP.
<br />THE PUMP PROPELLER SHALL BE OF CAST BRONZE, FREE OF SAND HOLES, BLOW HOLES
<br />OR OTHER IMPERFECTIONS. PROPELLER SHALL BE ACCURATELY MACHINED AND BALANCED TO
<br />INSURE VIBRATION FREE OPERATION. PROPELLER SHALL BE SECURELY FASTENED TO PUMP
<br />SHAFT TO PREVENT AXIAL MOVEMENT ON SHAFT.
<br />THE SHAFT OF THE PUMPING UNIT SHALL BE 1 11/16" DIAMETER MINIMUM AND SHALL
<br />OPERATE WITHOUT OBJECTIONABLE DISTORTION OR VIBRATION AT ANY SPEED IN BOTH THE
<br />FORWARD AND REVERSE DIRECTION OF ROTATION. THE PUMP SHAFT SHALL BE MADE OF
<br />416 STAINLESS STEEL, AND THE LINE SHAFT SHALL BE MADE OF C1045 CARBON OR ALLOY
<br />STEEL. THE SHAFT COUPLINGS SHALL BE MADE OF THE THREADED TYPE,
<br />PROVISIONS SHALL BE MADE AT THE TOP OF THE MOTOR SHAFT FOR ADJUSTING THE
<br />ELEVATION OF THE IMPELLER WITH REFERENCE TO THE BOWL. SHAFT SHALL BE ENCLOSED
<br />IN INNER COLUMN OF PIPE TUBING AND SUPPORTED BY BRONZE COUPLING BEARINGS.
<br />THE PUMP SHALL HAVE A BRONZE BEARING IMMEDIATELY ABOVE THE IMPELLER, AND
<br />A LOWER BRONZE BEARING BELOW THE IMPELLER_
<br />THE LINE SHAFT BEARINGS SHALL BE OIL LUBRICATED AND PROTECTED FROM WATER
<br />AND FOREIGN MATTER, BYPASS PORTS TO DRAIN EXCESS OIL FROM THE SHAFT ENCLOSING
<br />TUBE SHALL BE PROVIDED ABOVE THE SEAL. ALL BEARINGS SHALL BE EASILY REPLACE-
<br />ABLE, AND SPACED NOT MORE THAN FIVE FEET APART.
<br />THE PUMP SHALL BE OIL -LUBRICATED AND EQUIPPED WITH A SOLENOID OPERATED
<br />LUBRICATING SYSTEM WHICH SHALL SUPPLY LUBRICANT TO EACH LINESHAFT BEARING. THE
<br />SOLENOID -OPERATED OILER SHALL HAVE A METAL OIL RESERVOIR WITH A CAPACITY OF NOT
