SPECIFICATIONS FOR LEVEE CONSTRUCTION & FILL PLACEMENT
<br />ON "DEL RIO"
<br />1. Reclamation Board Permit No. 14818 and Department of Fish & Same
<br />notification #11 478-87 are hereby made a part of these plans. The
<br />Contractor shall not begin work without obtaining a copy of the above
<br />permits from the Engineer and assumes complete responsibility for
<br />notifying the agencies and meeting the conditions on the plans.
<br />2. Exposed areas shall be seeded with native grasses (by owner).
<br />3. The approved work shall be accomplished under the direction and
<br />supervision of the State Department of Water Resources, and the permittee
<br />shall conform to all requirements of the Department and Reclamation Board.
<br />4. The permittee is responsible for all personal liability and property
<br />damage which may arise out of failure on the permittee's part to perform
<br />the obligations under this permit. If any claim of liability is made
<br />against the State of California, or any departments thereof, the United
<br />States of America, a local district or other maintaining agencies and the
<br />officers, agents or employees thereof, the permittee shall defend and
<br />shall hold each of them harmless from each claim. The preceding is a
<br />condition of the Reclamation Board Permit. The Contractor shall accept
<br />unto himself all responsibility for fulfilling the above.
<br />5. .Should any of the work not conform to the conditions of this permit, the
<br />permittee, upon order of the Reclamation Board, shall in the manner
<br />prescribed by the Board be responsible for.:the cost and expense to remove,
<br />alter, relocate, or reconstruct all or any part of the work herein
<br />approved.
<br />6. The Contractor shall arrange for an inspector from the Department of Water
<br />Resources to be at the site prior to any excavation and during all
<br />backfill operations.
<br />7. That all trees and brush cleared shall be completely burned or otherwise
<br />removed from the overflow area of the Mokelumne River, and no downed trees
<br />or brush shall be allowed to remain in the floodway during the flood
<br />season between November 1 and April 15.
<br />B. That no excavation shall be made or allowed to remain in the riverbank
<br />between November 1 and April 15.
<br />9. That backfill material for the excavation shall be placed in 4- to 6 -inch
<br />layers and compacted to a density equal to that of the adjacent
<br />undisturbed material. (90% R.C. min.)
<br />10. That the existing levee shall not be removed prior to April 15 and the
<br />proposed levee shall be completed prior to November 1 of the same year.
<br />11. Only impervious material shall be used when constructing the realigned
<br />levee section.
<br />12. That the fill material used to construct the levee shall be placed in
<br />layers and compacted to a minimum density of 90%.
<br />13. Density tests by a certified materials laboratory will be required to
<br />verify compaction of backfill.
<br />14. That the applicant shall maintain the project works within the utilitzed
<br />area in the manner required and as requested by the authorized
<br />representative of the San Joaquin County Flood Control and Water
<br />Conservation District.
<br />15. The owner shall employ J. H. Kleinfelder and Associates to perform
<br />compaction tests at the Owner's expense. Retests of unsatisfactory
<br />compaction will be charged to the Contractor.
