No substitutions will be allowed. The
programmable process control panel shall be programmed to match the control
method and alarm indications of similar duplex lift stations installations in the
City of Tracy.
4. The programmable process control panel shall be programmed to turn on the
lead pump at an elevation of 90.7', turn on the lag pump at a water elevation
of 91.2', actuate an alarm at a water elevation of 91.7', and turn off any
pumps running at a water elevation of 86.0'. The lead pump shall be
alternated each time the pump off elevation is reached.
5. Alarm indications shall be as follows:
o High water level.
o Low or high voltage or phase disturbance.
o North pump overheat.
o South pump overheat.
o North pump seal leakage.
o South pump seal leakage.
o Generator alarms (detailed in electrical specifications).
Each indication shall cause the radio telemetry equipment to send an alarm and
shall cause a corresponding labeled light to turn on in the control panel. The
light shall remain on until it is manually reset. Activation of an alarm shall not
• change the control logic.
6. The radio telemetry equipment shall match the existing radio telemetry
equipment used by the City of Tracy at similar lift stations and shall be as
manufactured by Tesco. No substitutions will be allowed.
7. The transfer switch shall be an automatic switch to turn on the emergency
generator in the event of a power failure. The switch shall meet all applicable
PG&E standards and shall prevent any possibility of a simultaneous connection
of the generator and the power grid.
8. The electrical equipment shall be housed in a NEMA 4X enclosure or enclosures
1
1 fabricated from cold rolled steel with padlocking closures and a padlock keyed
to the City Standard.
9. The conduits for the power cables leading from the control panel to the pumps
shall be 2" diameter schedule 40 rigid conduit. The bubbler conduit shall be
1/2" diameter schedule 40 rigid conduit. Conduit from the electrical control
panel to the wet well shall be threaded galvanized steel or threaded galvanized
iron. The bubbler conduit inside the wet well shall be glued socket PVC. On
the horizontal run, the conduits shall have 18" of cover. Conduits shall be
tightly sealed around the cables at both ends with non -hardening sealant.
Power cables shall be provided with a cord grip at the wet well end of the
conduit. There shall be no splices in any of the cables or air lines running
-inside the conduits between the electrical control panel and the associated
device.
10. The level sensor shall be a reactive air level monitoring system as manufactured
by Tesco. The transmitter shall be mounted to the wet well wall in accordance
with the manufacturer's recommendations in an indentation in the grout fillet,
which will be formed to provide a 6 inch minimum clearance around the
' transmitter.
1. The pumps shall be non -clog submersible pumps designed for use with a guide
rail system. No entry of the wet well shall be necessary to connect the pumps
or remove the pumps for maintenance. Each pump shall deliver at least 250
gpm at a total dynamic head of 48 feet and shall not deliver more than 310
" gpm at a total dynamic head of 48 feet. Each pump shall be capable of at least
10 starts per hour on a continuing basis without damage and shall be capable
of passing a 3" sphere. The pump efficiency at a 250 gpm flow rate shall be
at least 50%. The pumps shall use 7.5 horsepower motors wired for 1750
rpm operation with 230 volt 3 phase power and shall be non -overloading over
the entire pumping range. The pumps shall have high temperature sensors with
n associated automatic shut-off and shall have a seal failure sensor. Th
ps shall be S4MX pumps with 7.88' impeller and the "Dual Rail
Iffigactured by Aurora/Hydromatic
r]
,%
r
2. Ductile iron pipes and fittings shall meet the applicable portions of the latest
revisions of the AWWA C110, C111, C115, C151 and C153 standards. The
ductile iron pipe and fittings shall be cement mortar lined in accordance with
the latest revision of AWWA C104. Buried ductile iron piping shall have a
bituminous external coating at least 1 mil thick. Ductile iron pipe which is not
buried shall be painted brown with a high solids epoxy.
13. All mechanical joint fittings shall have locking wedge retaining glands. Locking
wedge retaining glands shall be Megalug as manufactured by EBAA Iron Sales,
Inc. or approved equal.
14. Where a pipe or conduit penetrates a manhole ring, a clean hole large enough
to allow grout to be tightly packed around the pipe for the full thickness of the
manhole wall shall be cut. Where a pipe penetrates the valve vault a clean hole
large enough to allow grout to be tightly packed around the pipe for the full
thickness of the valve vault wall shall be cast in or a knockout provided. The
clearance between the wall and the pipe shall not exceed 2". A sand cement
grout shall be used to seal the space between the pipes and the precast wall
and shall be tightly packed for the full thickness of the wall.
15. Submittals shall be provided for the precast valve vault, the valve vault cover,
the wet well cover, electrical control panel and all associated equipment called
out in note 3., the electrical conduit, the bubbler, the overhead light, the
pumps, the piping and fittings, the check valves and the gate valves. The
submittals shall contain enough information to show that the proposed
equipment is exactly the make and model specified or is the equal in every
respect of the make and model specified, or, where no make and model has
been specified, that the proposed equipment meets the requirements listed and
is suitable for the intended use. The Contractor shall submit 5 copies of each
submittal to the Engineer. The Engineer shall evaluate the submittals and mark
them with the stamp shown below. Within 5 working days of the receipt of
a given submittal, the Engineer will send 1 copy to the Owner, send 1 copy to
the City of Tracy, and send the remaining two to the'Contractor. Until the
Contractor has received a submittal marked with either "No Exceptions Taken"
or "Make Correction Noted" the Contractor shall not proceed with any portion
of the work which would be adversely affected by the rejection of the
submittal.
SIJBM!TTAL REVIEW
BISSELL & KARN, INC. - CIVIL ENGINEERS
TVIO A 4.113K L INE.
