<br />meeting or exceeding A.W.W.A. C504. Valves body shall be cost iron,
<br />A.S.T.M. A126 Class B with 18-8 type 304 stainless steel body seat.
<br />Valve vane shall be cast iron A.S.T.M. A 48 Class 40 with rubber seat
<br />aecured with an integal 18-8 stainless steel nylon locked screws.
<br />Rubber sea[ shall be a full circle 360' seated not penetrated by the
<br />valve shaft. Packing shall be "triple seal" rubber designed for
<br />permanent underground duty. Valve operator shall be of the traveling -
<br />nut type, sealed, gasketed and lubricated for service. It shall
<br />withstand an input torqueof450 ft. lbs. Only valves on approved
<br />materials list shall be used.
<br />B. Gate Valves: 10" and smaller as shown on list of approved materials.
<br />2. Operating nuts shall be raised to within 4' of finished street grade with
<br />required extensions being provided by valve manufactured.
<br />3. Polywrap all pipes and valves.
<br />4. Valves shall be tested by manufacturer as follower 6" - 12" 175 psi 14"
<br />and larger - 150 psi. In addition, hydrostatic tests against fully closed
<br />valve vanes shall be done as follows: 6" - 12" 350 psi, and larger 300
<br />psi.
<br />5. Valve Box: Brooks 3 -RT or Christy G5 with GSC lid.

<br />1. Hydrant shall have 1, 4 1/2" pumper outlet and 2, 2 1/2" hose
<br />outlets, Rich "Ranger" Model 960, or approved equal. Hydrants and
<br />all exposed parts shall be painted one coat primer and two
<br />finishing coats of Benjamin Moore Safety Yellow or Fuller O'Brien
<br />Highway Yellow.
<br />2. Riser Spools when used shall be the solid type. Break -off spools
<br />are not permitted. The bolts attaching hydrant to bury or spool
<br />shall be of the brake -off type, hex head, heavy American Standard.
<br />3. Valve shall be resilient wedge gate valve. Epoxy lined & coated.
<br />4. Thrust block shall have a minimum bearing surface of 10 sq. feet.
<br />5. Concrete pad shall be 4'-6"x5'. Slope shall be 1/4" in 1' to curb.
<br />Concrete shall be Class "B" 2500 psi; 4" maximum slump; 3/4"
<br />maximum aggregate with 1/2 lb. lampblack per yard. Pad shall be
<br />finished to the specifications of the sidewalk.
<br />6. Hydro -Static testing required for runs in excess of one pipe
<br />length.
<br />7. Hydrants shall be located at P/L extension, at end of curb return,
<br />3 ft. from driveways, and near street lights,
<br />or as shown on plans approved by the City APPROVED BY
