Both pumps and motors shall
have the capability of running dry for extended periods without damage to motor seals.
Pump volute, motor enclosure and seal housing shall be ASTM A-48 Class 30 cast
iron or better. All fasteners exposed to the pumped liquid and the motor shaft
on which the impeller is mounted shall be stainless steel. Impeller shall be single
or mulitple port enclosed type. Impeller diameter shall be trimmed to meet
specified system flow and head conditions. The inner seal shall operate in a sealed,
oil—filled chamber containing moisture sensing probes capable of detecting any
influx of conductive liquid past the outer seal. Pumps shall be "PACO", "FLYGT"
or approved equal. Replacement parts must be locally available (within a 200
mile radius).
ELECTRICAL CONTROLS:
All electrical controls for the pump station shall be mounted in a NEMA 3R
double—door, dead—front enclosure with a padlock hasp. The controls for each
pump shall include a thermal circuit breaker, a rotary hand—off automatic switch,
a thermal magnetic motor starter with ambient compensated overload relays
and quick trip heaters, running lights and elapsed time meter.
Pump operation shall be controlled by four bulb—type liquid level sensors (Flygt
Model ENP -10 or equivalent): one for lead pump turn—on, one for lag pump turn—on,
one for both pumps turn—off, and one for high water alarm. The pumps shall operate
singly or in parallel. An automatic alternator shall alternate the lead—standby duty on
each succeeding pump cycle. A 0-10 minute adjustable delay timer shall be included in
the lead pump activation circuit. The pumps shall be set
to turn off 2.5 feet above the bottom of the wet well. The on—site alarm shall
include a flashing red light and horn. The alarm circuit shall include 2 spare contacts
for use in transmitting alarm to remote location.
The design of the disconnect system shall permit the easy removal of pumping
units for inspection or service. The pump when lowered into place, shall be
automatically connected to the discharge piping. There shall be no need for
personnel to enter the wet well to inspect or service the pump. Pump shall be
securely attached to a sliding guide bracket. A minimum schedule 40 standard
stainless steel pipe guide rail shall be furnished and installed by the contractor.
The sliding guide bracket shall have non—sparking material at the point of contact
with the guide rail to prevent spark ignition of explosive wet well gases during
pump installation and removal. A cast iron discharge elbow, located on the floor
of the wet well, will receive the pump discharge when the pump is lowered into
place. The receiving edge of the discharge elbow shall be fitted with non—sparking
material to prevent spark ignition of explosive wet well gases during pump
installation and removal. The pump discharge shall be fitted with a resilient seal
which provides a positive hydraulic seal for maximum pump system efficiency.
The lower guide rail bracket shall be mounted by the pump manufacturer on a steel
base plate, in alignment for proper operation of the disconnect system. The base
assembly shall provide stable, three point support of the pumping unit during pump
operation. The entire quick disconnect pumping system must be listed and labeled
by underwriters laboratory (UL) as suitable for operation in Class 1, Group D,
Division 1 located as defined in Section 501-8 of the National Electric Code.
DISCHARGE PIPING:
The discharge piping for each pump shall include cast iron discharge elbow,
schedule 80 PVC and flanged fittings, 175 PSI flanged check valve with spring assist,
especially designed to handle raw sewage, 125 PSI flanged gate valve and flexible coupling.
WET LLTYEL
The wet well shall be constructed of 6 feet diameter Class III reinforced concrete
pipe (R.C.P.) with PCC base, fully lined with coal tar epoxy or reinforced fiberglass
on a PCC base.
TESTING:
The entire installation shall be tested in the presence of the owner. Panel and circuits
shall be tested for shorts and ground with mains and disconnect from feeders. Each
individual circuit shall be tested at the panel with all equipment connected for proper
operation. The actual flow rates shall be measured for all phases of operation. The
actual flow rates shall be within 10% of the specified design. flow rates when tested
at the design head.
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE:
Contractor shall furnish the owner three (3) bound sets of 0 & M manuals
including complete wiring diagram, exploded view of all electrical components, pump
equipment and pump curve, all part numbers and one laminated wire schematic in
pocket on panel door. He shall also provide the owner the name, address
and phone number of the nearest local distributors for parts.
WARRANTY:
All material including pumps, valves, electrical controls, etc. shall be warranted for
a minimum one—year period from the date of final acceptance by the Owner.
ASSOCIATES, INC.
P.O.Hoz ese
40 San Andreas, Ca. 95m
Ph.
