I <br />GENERAL NOTES: <br />1. The HMA for Mainline Paving and Pavement Repair must be 3/4 inch Type A and <br />must be 1 /2 inch Type A for Driveways. <br />2. The asphalt binder for the HMA Type A must be PG 70-10 for Mainline Paving and <br />Pavement Repairs and must be PG 64-10 for Driveways. <br />3. 0.25' HMA Overlay must be placed in two (2) layers of approximately equal <br />thickness. <br />4. 0.21' HMA Overlay must be placed in one (1) layer. <br />5. All cold planing pavement and paving operations must be completed on the same <br />day between Sta 10+43 and 13+43 Lone Tree Road. <br />6. Placement of HMA Overlay must not begin until the HMA used in Pavement Repair <br />has been in place for a minimum of 18 hours. <br />7. Placement of HMA Driveways must not begin until the HMA used for Mainline Paving <br />has been completed. <br />8. Existing highway and utility facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />9. Existing trees, shrubs, fences, mailboxes and other frontage improvements must <br />remain in place unless otherwise noted. <br />10. Existing drainage facilities must remain in place unless otherwise noted. The <br />Contractor must conduct earthwork operations so as not to modify or obstruct the <br />existing drainage. <br />11. Hand grinding of roadway surfacing pavement will be required at locations where <br />existing highway and utility facilities are within the Remove Subbase, Base and <br />Surfacing and Pavement Repair limits. Payment for hand grinding will be considered <br />as included in the contract unit price paid for Remove Subbase, Base and <br />Surfacing. <br />12. All Earthwork, except for final shoulder grading, must be completed prior to placing <br />the final layer of HMA pavement. No Shoulder Backing material will be deposited or <br />drifted on the final layer of HMA surfacing. Limits of the Penetration Treatment work must be <br />confined to intersection radii plus fifty feet (50') in each direction or to the <br />intersection conform. <br />14. The Contractor will be responsible for adequately scheduling inspection and testing <br />of all facilities constructed under this contract with a minimum 24 hour prior notice <br />to the County. All testing must conform to the Standard Specifications. All <br />re --testing will be paid by the Contractor. <br />15. Prior to commencing any work, it will be the Contractor's responsibility to have each <br />utility company locate in the field their main service lines and laterals. The <br />Contractor must notify members of the Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) 48 hours <br />in advance of performing excavation work by calling the toll free number <br />(1-800-642-2444) or 811. <br />16. The Contractor must exercise due caution and carefully preserve survey bench <br />marks, control points, reference points and all survey stakes, and must bear all <br />expenses for replacement and/or errors caused by their unnecessary loss or <br />disturbance. <br />17. See Project Specifications Book, Appendix A, Traffic Signal and Lighting Plan - <br />Escalon-Bellota Road and Lone Tree Road for location and the configuration of the <br />traffic signal loop detectors. <br />18. The Contractor must place temporary ramps to affected residents' driveways at the <br />end of each working day if a drop off greater than 0.15' exists. Ramp materials <br />must be consistent with that of the roadbed (or roadway) surface that is to be <br />placed upon. Payment for this work will be considered as included in the various <br />items of work involved. <br />19.
