Hon. H. B. Knight,
C/o County Clerk, Stockton.
Dear Sir: -
San Francisco, Sept. 14, 1904.
I send you herewith enclosed deed from myself to the County
of San Joaquin for right of way for Road on Union Island, and for the
Steel Drawbridge across the Grant Line Canal; also deed from Thomas H.
Williams and others for right of way for same, and including right of
way for bridge across Middle River. These cover the entire location
except a small strip of land belonging to Mrs. Jennie R. Williams and
her daughter, embracing only 1.37 acres. I have no doubt that they will
grant right of way over it. I have prepared a deed.therefor with ex-
planatory letter, which I will forward to them. They are now in Europe.
I think the deeds I send you will be found entirely satisfact-
ory. I would suggest'that you get right of way for the bffidge across
the canal, from Fabian & Greenaur, as it will abut on their levee, and
they may possibly claim some interest in part of the canal on that side.
In what mode do the parties draw the amounts set apart for
them as damages? Do they get warrants on the Treasury, or how?
Very truly yours, ,
36
