Instal/ bolts, clamps, wedges, guy lines, struts or other suitable devices to hold girder <br />sections in alignment and in such a monner as to allow normal shrinkoge movement <br />In the girder splice weld. <br />2. Preheat flanges 1211 in both directions from centerline of butt joint between 300 OF and 400° F. <br />J. Weld girder flanges top and bottom complete maintaining preheat. <br />4. Hold preheat of flanges to 200 ° F minimum. Preheat web plate for 6 v to 8 each side <br />of centerline of the butt joint to a maximum of 2000 <br />F. Mointoin the preheat and <br />weld web butt Joint. Sequence of web amove weld may be bock l- cascade or intermittent <br />4 4 so as to balance the applied web heat to the heat of the flanges, thus minimizing the <br />/2 /2 shrinkage stresses. <br />5.
