Printed on:Thursday 10/03/2024 11:45 AM 29C0347/AAAN/136924Pageof3
Department of Transportation - Division of Maintenance Structure Maintenance & Investigations
7
UNDERWATER INVESTIGATION DETAILS - NOT APPLICABLE FOR THIS BRIDGE.
STEEL INVESTIGATION DETAILS
SCOPE AND ACCESS
The canal was flowing under Span 2 up to 10 feet at the time of this investigation. No elements were submerged. There is a homeless
encampment below Span 1, however, it did not hinder a complete inspection. All of the substructure elements are located outside of the
concrete lining. A complete routine inspection was performed on all of the visible elements by walking on and about the structure.
NUMBERING CONVENTION
The support numbering system used on the as-built plans for this structure is reversed from the convention employed by Structure
Maintenance & Investigations. This report and all subsequent reports will follow the SM&I numbering convention with Abutment 1
designated as the southern abutment.
MISCELLANEOUS
A new routine map view photo was added during this investigation. See Photo 1.
DECK AND ROADWAY
The AC approaches have longitudinal, transverse and pattern cracks up to 0.5 inches wide and spaced as close as 6 inches on center. In
addition, the AC is spalling at the interface to the bridge at both abutments. (See Photos 2 and 3 dated 06/06/2022). This condition has
been previously reported and no significant changes were noted.
The right sidewalk has pattern cracks up to 0.01 inches wide throughout the length of the bridge that are spaced 18 inches on center.
There is no ramp to the sidewalks at either abutment, leading to a 5 inch drop from the sidewalk to the roadway. (See Photo 2). This
condition has been previously reported and no significant changes were noted.
INSPECTION COMMENTARY
- NOT APPLICABLE FOR THIS BRIDGE.
CONDITION INFORMATION
SPECIAL INSPECTION INFORMATION
