It is assumed this condition was caused during the removal of the AC overlay
prior to the deck being treated with methacrylate. See Photo 5 dated 06/08/2022.
The deck was treated methacrylate in 2015.
Treated deck cracks are pattern cracks up to 0.05 inches, with edge spalling, and spaced as close as 6 inches on center. It is
estimate that 25% of the crack defect is in Condition State 1 and 25% will remain in Condition State 3.
The 05/08/2014 Underwater Inspection Report noted transverse soffit cracks within Span 2 of Bay 3, which was also mentioned in the
04/27/2006 Bridge Inspection Report. This condition is also occuring in Span 3. The cracks are hairline with light efflorescence. (See
Photo 6 dated 06/08/2022).) This accounts for approximately 60 feet of cracking total. Due to high water level this condition was not
verified during this investigation.
The methacrylate treatment remains effective. No new cracking was noted during this inspection.
Non-Routine Inspection Element Notes:
UWI (05/27/2020): See Table 3 of the report from AECOM. There are 2.3 square feet (1 square meter) of deck soffit spalls with
associated exposed reinforcing with section loss. A hands-on inspection of exposed reinforcing steel was not possible by the diver.
(58) (5)DECK RATING =
(36a) Rail Code 0000
330 Railing-Metal
Corrosion
2
2
67
34
m
each
33
0
34
34
0
0
0
0
JOINT/APPROACH/RAIL ELEMENT INSPECTION RATINGS AND NOTES
1000
RAIL INFORMATION
(36b) Transition (36c) Appr Guardrail (36d) Appr Guardrail End 55Roadway Speed MPH
JOINT - APPROACH - RAIL
Element DescriptionElem
No.
Env Total
Qty
Units
CS 1 CS 2 CS 3 CS 4
Qty in each Condition StateDefect/
Prot Defect
