There up to 4 feet of water in the creek below the span during this
investigation. No elements were submerged. All visible elements were fully inspected. A complete routine inspection was performed.
NUMBERING CONVENTION
The forward direction of Wilmer Road is from south to north. The beginning of the bridge at Abutment 1 is located on the south end of the
structure.
HISTORY
The previous Bridge 29C0303 at this location was removed in 2022 due to the functionally obsolete roadway width, the alignment on a
curve, and due to deterioration in the timber superstructure.
Construction of this Bridge 29C0470, completed in 2023, provides safety improvements which include a wider roadway width, an
improved roadway alignment along the curve, with an increased strength and reliability of materials.
MISCELLANEOUS
New routine photos were taken and a new routine map view photo was added during this investigation. See Photos 1 to 4.
Additional photos were taken during this investigation as follows:
Photo 5 - Roadway looking at Abutment 2.
Photo 6 - Elevation looking southwest at the right side of the structure.
Photo 7 - Looking downstream.
Photo 8 - Looking upstream.
Photo 18 - AC approach at Abutment 1.
Photo 19 - AC approach at Abutment 2.
DECK AND ROADWAY
The bridge identification was visible. See Photos 9 and 10.
SAFE LOAD CAPACITY
The load rating for this structure is being reviewed by SM&I Ratings Branch under Work Request 13104. An updated Load Rating
Summary will be archived when this review is complete. The current rating has been temporarily assigned to this structure in accordance
with SM&I procedures.
OPERATIONAL SIGNS
The following signs were visible at both approaches to the bridge:
curve warning
15 MPH
WATERWAY
There is a cattle guard fence in the downstream side of the waterway. See Photo 7.
Measurements of the channel recorded during the bridge inspection are summarized in the channel cross section which is included with
this bridge inspection report.
The bridge is founded on CIDH piles. The abutment embankments are protected with rock slope protection.
There were no signs of scour. A request was made to Local Hydraulics to provide the Scour Critical 113 Code.
INSPECTION COMMENTARY
CONDITION INFORMATION
SPECIAL INSPECTION INFORMATION
