Printed on:Friday 10/04/2024 01:06 PM 29C0481/AAAB/144921Pageof3
Department of Transportation - Division of Maintenance Structure Maintenance & Investigations
5
UNDERWATER INVESTIGATION DETAILS - NOT APPLICABLE FOR THIS BRIDGE.
STEEL INVESTIGATION DETAILS
SCOPE AND ACCESS
This report addresses hydraulic issues only and findings of a field investigation by the Structure Maintenance & Investigations (SMI)
Local Agency Hydraulics Branch. The channel was dry and a full inspection of the channel and substructure elements was performed.
The only National Bridge Inventory (NBI) item reviewed was the item 113 scour code (and applicable SNBI codes - see REVISIONS
below). All other NBI codes and elements ratings were carried over from the most recent Routine Inspection Report.
HISTORY
There was no scour reported in the two archived most recent routine investigations.
No Plans are available at this time.
REVISIONS
The NBI 113 scour code has been changed from 6: "Scour calculation/evaluation has not been made." to 8: "Bridge foundations
determined to be stable for the assessed or calculated scour condition."
A new federal coding guide is forthcoming. The new guide is the Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI). The NBI 113
scour code will be replaced with the SNBI Scour Vulnerability code. During the transition, SMI bridge reports will document both the 113
and the Scour Vulnerability codes. The Scour Vulnerability code has been revised from 0: "Scour appraisal has not been completed." to
A: "Scour appraisal completed. Bridge determined to be stable for scour."
MISCELLANEOUS
The SNBI Channel Protection code was assigned N/A (Not Applicable) given no channel protection was noted.
The SNBI Scour Condition Rating code was assigned a 7 (Good).
WATERWAY
One to two inches of sediment build up was noted in each cell.
Upstream flow is well aligned with the culvert opening.
No significant scour or scour potential was noted.
INSPECTION COMMENTARY
- NOT APPLICABLE FOR THIS BRIDGE.
CONDITION INFORMATION
SPECIAL INSPECTION INFORMATION
