Department of Transportation - Division of Maintenance Structure Maintenance & Investigations INSPECTION COMMENTARY SCOPE AND ACCESS All elements listed in the "Underwater Elements Investigated" section of the report were inspected from the waterline down to the mudline. The inspection of the remainder of the element and all other elements is the responsibility of the routine inspection. This structure was inspected using wade and probe equipment and techniques. Inspecting operations were staged from shore and inspector access was from the northeast bank. This underwater inspection follows the procedures of Section 5.4 of the SM&I Procedures Manual. SUBSTRUCTURE All submerged elements were covered with a thin layer of growth which could easily be removed by the diver's gloved hands. This condition allowed for a 100% Level I inspection and a minimum of 10% Level II inspection of the submerged portions of the elements. Prior to this inspection the SNBI B.C.15 Underwater Inspection rating was 7. The conditions present on the date of this inspection are consistent with a SNBI rating of 8. For reference purposes, the height from waterline to the top of rail was 13 feet 8 inches at Bent 3, Column 5 at 1046 hours on the day of this inspection. The following depths and/or miscellaneous conditions were noted: Pier 2: Column 1 Mudline - 2.0 feet Column 5 Mudline - 2.5 feet Pier 3: Column 1 Mudline - 2.0 feet Column 5 Mudline - 2.0 feet Element 204, Column - PS Conc. See ELI table for condition state and rating. WATERWAY Prior to this inspection the SNBI B.C.09 Channel was coded 6. The conditions present on the date of this inspection are consistent with a SNBI rating of 6. Prior to this inspection the SNBI B.C.10 Channel Protection rating was not populated. The conditions present on the date of this inspection are consistent with a SNBI rating of N. Prior to this inspection the SNBI B.C.11 Scour condition rating was 7. The conditions present on the date of this inspection are consistent with a SNBI rating of 8. Prior to this inspection the SNBI B.AP.03 Scour Vulnerability rating was directly transitioned from the NBI Item 113 Scour Critical Bridge Rating and was assigned temporary rating of (AB-T).
