ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES SHALL CONFORM TO THE LATEST EDITION OF CALIFORNIA MANUAL OF <br />UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES (CA MUTCD), THE CALIFORNIA TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL <br />HANDBOOK (CATTCH), AND CALTRANS STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. <br />2. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT, SHERIFF/POLICE DEPARTMENT, CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL, LOCAL <br />SCHOOL DISTRICT, TRANSIT SERVICE PROVIDERS AND UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE SHALL BE <br />NOTIFIED 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF CONSTRUCTION WORK. <br />3. ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES SHALL BE MAINTAINED, REPAIRED, REPLACED, AND/OR CLEANED AS <br />NECESSARY TO PRESERVE THEIR APPEARANCE AND CONTINUITY. <br />4. SIGNS AND CHANNELIZING DEVICES MUST BE RETROREFLECTIVE OR ILLUMINATED DURING NIGHT <br />OPERATIONS. <br />5. ALL WORKERS SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH A REFLECTIVE VEST AND HARD HAT PER LATEST ANSI/ISEA <br />107 STANDARDS. ALL FLAGGERS SHALL ALSO BE EQUIPPED WITH A Rl-l/W20-8 "STOP/SLOW" <br />PADDLE AND SHALL BE TRAINED IN THE PROPER FUNDAMENTALS OF FLAGGING TRAFFIC. ALL <br />FLAGGERS SHALL COMMUNICATE THROUGH HAND SIGNALS AND/OR RADIO DEVICES. <br />6. NO PARKING SIGNS SHALL BE PLACED 72 HOURS PRIOR TO SET UP. SIGNS SHALL BE POSTED EVERY 20 <br />LINEAR FEET OF OCCUPIED SPACE WITH AT LEAST ONE SIGN AT EACH END OF OCCUPIED SPACE. <br />7. ANY CONFLICTING SIGNS SHALL BE COVERED FOR THE LENGTH OF THE JOB. <br />8. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN EMERGENCY VEHICLE AND DRIVEWAY ACCESS AT ALL TIMES. <br />9. PACIFIC GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY ASSUMES NO LIABILITY WHEN CONTRACTOR DOES OWN SET UP <br />OR MAKES CHANGES TO THE ORIGINALTRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN. <br />10. CITY ENGINEER OR HIS/HER REPRESENTATIVE HAS THE AUTHORITY TO INITIATE FIELD CHANGES TO <br />ASSURE PUBLIC SAFETY. <br />11. CONTRACTOR SHALL PLATE EXCAVATED AREA DURING NON -WORKING HOURS. WHEN APPLICABLE, <br />CONTRACTOR SHALL PLACE W8-24 (STEEL PLATE AHEAD) SIGNS PER LATEST CA MUTCD. <br />12. CHANNELIZING DEVICES SHOWN ON PLAN ARE FOR ILLUSTRATION PURPOSES ONLY. EXACT NUMBER <br />OF CHANNELIZING DEVICES REQUIRED SHALL BE BASED ON THE POSTED SPEED, TANGENT LENGTHS, <br />TAPER LENGTHS, CONFLICTING SECTIONS, AND ACTUAL FIELD CONDITIONS. <br />13. HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION WORK LIGHTING SHALL BE <br />PER CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORDER 1523 (TILE 8, DIVISION 1, <br />CHAPTER 4, SUBCHAPTER 4, ARTICLE 3, SECTION 1523). <br />16. NOTHING ALLOWED IN BUFFER OR TRANSITION AREAS UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THE PLAN. <br />17. CONTRACTOR SHOULD AVOID PLACING SIGNS IN BIKE LANE. <br />18. IF PEDESTRIAN ACCESS IS RESTRICTED DURING WORKING HOURS, AT LEAST ONE WORKER SHALL BE <br />ASSIGNED WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY TO SAFELY ESCORT PEDESTRIANS IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE. THE <br />ASSIGNED WORKER(S) MAY ALSO PARTICIPATE IN OTHER CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES BUT SHALL <br />ALWAYS BE AWARE OF HIS/HER RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE THIS ASSISTANCE. PEDESTRIANS SHALL <br />NOT BE DIRECTED NOR EXPECTED TO CROSS A ROADWAY AT ANY LOCATION OTHER THAN AT A <br />SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION OR ALL -WAY STOP.
