CA 95821 <br /> Subject: ACCESS REQL)IST <br /> Buckman Road Bridge R placement at Duck Creel. <br /> San Joaquin County, California <br /> Dear Mr. Marino: <br /> Blackburn Consulting (BCD requests permission to access the crowd of the levee of Duck <br /> Creek in San Joaquin County and drill soil borings as part of a geotechnical study for the <br /> Buckman Road Bridge Replacement at Duck Creel: (Bridge No._19C-227). The purpose of' <br /> the borings is to investigate subsurface materials and conditions for the bridge replace111ent <br /> on the crown of the levee of Duck Creek. ALJ 1,ork is being performed on behalf of the San <br /> Joaquin County Public Works Department In Co111t11101011 \�ith their Buckman Road Bridge <br /> Replacement project. <br /> Uur subsurface investiLTation on the levee crown Will consist of the following: <br /> ® Two (2) borings, each extendin(I up to 60 feet below the ground SUrrace. <br /> Please see the attached vicinity and site neap which shows these locations. <br /> We will use a truck-mounted drill rig on the levee crown to complete the exploratory <br /> borings. The borings will be advanced with 6-inch diameter hollow ste111 augers until <br /> groundwater is encountered then advanced using 4-inch diameter Mud rotary techniques. <br /> To protect the integrity of the levee, we will not s1i itch to 1111id rotary until we are below the <br /> elevation of the base of the levee. <br /> BCI will conduct all field exploration work related to this project under the following terns: <br /> 1. BCI considers the proposed work/project as a minor alteration within an adopted plan of flood <br /> control and would not be injurious to the adopted plan of flood control. Therefore per CCR, <br /> Title 23,Article 3,Section 6(e)PG&E requests your authorization of this project. <br /> 2. The Central Valley Flood Protection Board is not. responsible for liability associated <br /> with this project and BCI shall hold harmless the Central Valley Flood Protection <br /> Board for liability or claims of liability associated herewith. <br /> 3. No other work than as described herein will be performed it the site without prior <br /> approval of the Central Vallev flood Protection Board. <br />
