DEPAR T MENT OF PUBLIC,WORKS <br /> SECTIOtq 39DD: MISCELLANEOUS SUBSECTION 391 D <br /> - <br /> ORIGINAL ISSUE DATE: April 6, 1984 TRENGH CUTTING <br /> This trench cutting policy provides-uniform guidelines and requirements for trenching within San <br /> Joaquin County right of way. It is intended to assist members of the public, private contractors) <br /> employees of the Department of Public Works, and arty other parties trenching in San Joaquin <br /> County. <br /> x- 3910.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. Resurfacing requirements specified in hl is policy are in addition to the trench <br /> resurfacing requirements specified by San Joaquin County Standard Drawing R- <br /> 29. <br /> _ B. For the burp-ose of this policy, 'Surf ieni Age' is defined as the age o-1, he_m.ost <br /> -- — recently completed roadway surfacing-Jricluding-construction, reconstruction; or <br /> major overlay.. <br /> C. Where the application of seat coats is required a Type•if Slurry Seal will be used <br /> in accordance with State Standard Specifications;Section 37-2. <br /> D. The permittee must post a one-year maintenance bond or cash deposit, in an <br /> amount specified by the-Department- <br /> E. All pavement markings destroyed or obliterated-must be-replaced in kind-by the <br /> Penni wee. Typical-pavement markings include, but are not limited to, lane lines, <br /> centerlines, stop and stop ahead legends, limit fines,-raised pavemeht markers, <br /> -and miscellaneous delineators. <br /> F. The.permitee is responsible for Survey-Monuments disturbed by trenching and is <br /> required to file a comer record and to reestablish them using a Licensed Land <br /> Surveyor after the trench restoration is completed. <br /> G. Functional classification maps*and Public Works Project Advertising Schedules <br /> are references for this policy. <br /> H. To facilitate scheduling and planning, Public Works staff will make available the <br /> most current Project Advertising Schedule at the monthly Utility Coordiriation <br /> Meeting and make it available to the public, at the Permits Counter,in January <br /> each year. <br /> 3910.2 COLLECTORS, AR T ERIALS AND-EXPRESSWAYS <br /> A_ Surfacing Age less than Three(3)Years: No pavement cuts. Exceptions may be <br /> approved in accordance with Section 3910.4 EXCEPTIONS. <br /> B. Surfacing Age Three (3)Years and Over. <br /> 1. Longitudinal Trench Cuffing in Paved Shoulder Areas:` <br /> I he entire shoulder of the-road is to be resurfaced. The ex-isting surfacing <br /> adjacent to the trenched area shall be planed-to accommodate the overlay <br /> in a manner that does not cause drainage concerns. The nearest <br /> pavement cut shall be a minimum of til-ree,(3) feet from the edge of <br /> pavement, or the remaining pavement shall also be removed and <br /> replaced.
