DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> E-S-ECTTE101H3'9DD: MISCELLANEOUS rSUBSECTION 3910 <br /> TRENCH CUTTING <br /> RIISSUE DATE: ApriI6, 19B4 <br /> This trench cutting policy provides-uniform guidelines and-requirements for trenching within San <br /> Joaquin County right o;way. Ii is intended to-assist members of the public, private contractors, <br /> employees of the Department of Public Works, and_any ot}ler panes trenching in San Joaquin <br /> County. <br /> 3910.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. Revurfacing requirements specned in this.policy are in addition to the trench <br /> resurfacing requirements specified by San Joaquin County Standard Drawing R- <br /> 29. <br /> B. For the purpose of this poli-cy, 'Surfarang-Aga' is 8a-5nad as the a.ga of-the_most <br /> _— — recently completed roadway surfacing-,including-construction; reconstruction., or <br /> major overlay..- <br /> C_ Where the application of.seal coats is required., a Type It Slurry Seal will be used <br /> in accordance with State Standard Specifications,Section 37-2. <br /> D. I he permittee must post a one-year maintenance bond or cash deposit, in an <br /> amount specified by the-Department. <br /> E. AT pavement markings destroyed or obliterated-must be-replaced in kind-by the <br /> perfniuee. Typical-pavement markings include, but are not limited to, Ian&Iines, <br /> centerlines, stop and stop ahead legends,limit fines,-raised pavement markers, <br /> -and miscellaneous delineators. <br /> F. ihe-permitiee is responsible for Survey-Monuments disturbed by trenching and is <br /> required to file a comer record and to reestablish them using a Licensed Land <br /> Sumayor after Tie trench restoration is completed. <br /> G. Functional classiticatlion maps-and Public Works Project Advertising Schedules <br /> are references for this policy. <br /> H. To facTi Late scheduling and planning, Public Works staff will make availablethe <br /> most current Project Advertising Schedule at the monthly Utility Coordination <br /> Meeting and make it available to the public, at the Permits Counter,in January <br /> each year. <br /> 39102 COLLECTORS, ARTERIALS AND-EXPRESMIAYS <br /> A. Suri-acing Age less than Three (3)Years: No cuts. Exception, may be <br /> approved in accordance vvith Section 391 D.4 EX�_--EPTIONS. <br /> B. Surfacing Age Three (3) Years and Over. <br /> 1. Longitudinal Trench Curling in Paved Shoulder Areas:` <br /> The entire shoulder of the-road is to be resurfaced. The e)dsting surfacing <br /> adjacent to the trenched area shall be planed-to acgommodate the overlay <br /> in a manner that does not cause drainage concems. T hII nearest <br /> pavement cut shall be a minimumrof th% e(3), feet from the edge of <br /> pavement, or the remaining pavement shall also be removed and <br /> replaced.
