To: Mike Parissi Date 04/28/94
San Joaquin County
Office of Emergency Services
222 E. Weber- Street, Room 610
Stockton, Ca. 95202
Re: Fertilizer Solution teak (NON HAZARDOUS)
On Thursday, April 28, 1994, at approximately 2:30AM a
leak was spotted by a concerned citizen and it was reported
to the Stockton Fire Department. As a result of the report,
San Joaquin County Environmental Health was notified. The
Fire Department immediately responded to 1905 N. Broadway
and the sistuation was resolved without incident.
At first it was believed to be an ammonia release, but
what was discovered was a tank leaking liquid fertilizer,
onto a containment and loadout pad. About 500 gallons of
a non-hazardous liquid fertilizer spilled onto the pad
before some CPS employees were able to stop the leak.
None of the fertilizer was spilled onto the ground and
it will be pumped into another tank and used for it' s
intended purpose as fertilizer. Below is a break down of
the ingredients of the fertilizer:
Fertilizer: 3-8--12 (Nitrogen, Phosphate, Potash Solution)
H20 (Water) 2, 650 lbs
10-34-0 1, 200 lbs
Urea 23% 150 lbs
Muiate of Potash 61% 1, 000 lbs
None of the ingredients listed above are listed on the
Hazardous materials chart, and none of the ingredients
listed above would have met a reportable quantity (RG) type
situation, unless released onto an unprotected area causing
soil contamination and possibly getting into a storm drain
and traveling to ether areas. Our secondary containment pad
worked well in this case and retained all of the material
for us to pump right back into a holding tank. There was no
product loss.
SRE
Crop Productiun Services, Inc.
P. O. BOX 5188
Stockton, Ca. 95205 1-209-547-2609
