Assess the ability of Fire Control Teams to safely put out the fire, <br />considering the properties of the material on fire, the fire-fighting <br />equipment available, and the intensity of the blaze. <br />6. The Emergency Coordinator must work in conjunction with the local fire <br />department when a fire is too large for the Fire/Spill Control Team(s) to <br />handle. The following information should be made available to the arriving <br />fire department and other emergency assistance teams: <br />Type of material involved. <br />Other chemicals within the vicinity of the fire. <br />c. Measures already taken to control the emergency. <br />If facility evacuation occurs, the Emergency Coordinator should ensure that <br />reference tools such as the Contingency Plan, Corporate Directory and visitor <br />logs are removed for off-site use. <br />The Emergency Coordinator must provide control of facility gates to prevent <br />unauthorized access by spectators, etc. <br />The Emergency Coordinator must notify the Regional Operations Manager <br />and the Regional Regulatory Manager of the incident as soon as it is possible <br />to do so. Internal and external reporting of spills shall be in accordance with <br />Reference 5.20 of the Operating Standards Manual (OSM). <br />The Emergency Coordinator must provide for storing or disposing of <br />recovered wastes, contaminated soils or water, or any other debris resulting <br />from a fire, release, or explosion at the facility. <br />All equipment used during the emergency must be cleaned and made fit for <br />use or replaced immediately in order to be prepared for another emergency. <br />Refer to the Decontamination Procedures, Operating Standards Manual, <br />Section 6.41, Exhibit 4.
