Guide Number 21 JAN '9 Tully <br /> , <br /> Fire or Explosion: <br /> Cannot catch fire, but container may explode in heat of fire. <br /> Health Hazards: <br /> Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. <br /> Contact with liquid may cause frostbite. <br /> Emerjzency Action: <br /> Keep unnecessary people away; isolate hazard area and deny entry. <br /> Inert gases displace oxygen. Stop leak if you can do it without risk while avoiding <br /> suffocation. Assure sufficient oxygen is available before attempting rescue. <br /> Do not touch or walk through spilled material. <br /> Avoid breathing gases. <br /> Stay upwind, out of low areas and open all doors to ventilate area before entering <br /> Contact the supplier for additional assistance to stop the release. <br /> Fire: <br /> Move container from fire area if you can do it without risk. <br /> Apply cooling water to the sides of the container that are exposed to the flames until after <br /> the fire is extinguished. Stay away from tanks end. <br /> First Aid: <br /> Move victim to fresh air and call emergency medical care; if not breathing, give artificial <br /> respiration; if breathing is difficult, give oxygen. <br /> In case of frostbite, thaw frosted parts with water. <br /> Keep victim quite and maintain normal body temperature. <br /> Prevention Procedures: <br /> Store tank and/or cylinders with valve protection caps installed. <br /> Tank and cylinders should be stored upright and finely secured to prevent falling or <br /> being knocked over. <br /> Containers should be stored in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from sources of heat <br /> or ignition and direct sun light. <br /> If you suspect any problems with the tank notify the supplier immediately to have the <br /> system inspected. <br />
