Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor 0
Stockton, CA 95202
Dear Mr. Knoll:
Re: Pacific Gas and Electric Company's (PG&E) Natural Gas Line 176
Pipe Break Post Cleanup Sample Results
This letter is a submittal of the analytical results from soil sampling which were
taken, during and after cleanup activities, due to a pipebreak on Line 176 in San
Joaquin County, which occurred on January 9, 1997. Results of the laboratory
analyses are listed as Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as Diesel,
Kerosene, Mineral Oil, and Gasoline; Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and
Total Xylenes, or BTEX are also listed.
At this time, all remediation activities have been discontinued at the request of
the Reclamation District over concern of the integrity of the levee.
As previously agreed, PG&E will take additional soil samples in June 1997. The
additional samples will be collected at locations where the analytical results
indicate levels exceeding 50 mg/kg TPH are still present. Additional soil may be
removed after that time, if conditions warrant. We will contact you prior to June
to give you the opportunity to witness the sampling. At that time, we will work
with you to achieve the designated cleanup level.
If there are any further questions or concerns concerning the attached laboratory
analyses, please contact me at (510) 974-4079. Thank you.
Sincerely,
/(YA
Rex Bell
JDO:skw
