Emergency Action Plan Page 1 of 7 <br />EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN <br /> <br />SECTION I. Purpose <br />To establish general and specific procedures for employees to follow during various emergency situations in order to <br />minimize the risk of worker injury. Specific responsibilities of designated personnel are defined to clarify roles and duties <br />when emergency action is needed. The ultimate goal is to protect all employees from all emergency scenarios using a <br />variety of contingency Plans. Reference to the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan for further information. <br />Emergencies covered under this plan include: <br /> Medical (injury or illness) <br /> Fire/Explosion <br /> Earthquake <br /> Hazardous Material/Chemical Spill (defined for an emergency response) <br /> <br />Evacuation route cards and basic instructions will be posted throughout the facilities. Evacuation Route Maps are <br />attached to the addendum of this Plan. Additional copies of this Plan are available in one or more of the following <br />locations: Right-to-Know Station, office of the Safety Manager or designee. <br /> <br />SECTION II. Responsibilities <br />The General Manager is the Emergency Coordinator responsible for implementing this Plan. <br /> <br />The Emergency Coordinator is also responsible for the following: <br /> Developing the Emergency Action Plan (which includes emergency procedures, evacuation routes, and <br />emergency personnel roster, and a training Plan) <br /> Maintaining the Plan with updated changes in facilities, operations and personnel (Plan to be reviewed <br />whenever changes occur, but at least annually) <br /> Providing current copies of the plan to Management and Supervisors <br /> Appointing emergency personnel (including designating site personnel responsible for emergency duties in the <br />absence of the Emergency Coordinator) <br /> Arranging for training of emergency personnel and conducting emergency drills <br /> Answering any questions regarding this plan or providing further information or explanation of individual duties <br />under the Plan <br /> Directing emergency activities with designated/trained personnel <br /> <br />Emergency Leader (usually the Operations Manager, Shift-Leader or Supervisor-in-charge) has the duty to: <br /> Communicate the circumstances of an emergency to all other ERT members and advise when/if necessary to <br />contact outside emergency services for assistance. <br /> Coordinate operations required during an emergency to give primary consideration for the safety of all <br />personnel. At the time of an emergency, all duty assignments for other ERT members are given by the <br />Emergency Coordinator. <br /> Serve as the primary liaison between the company and outside emergency services, during an emergency <br />situation, and ensures that the incident is fully documented and reported to the Safety Manager in a timely <br />manner. <br /> <br />Emergency Response Team (includes the Emergency Coordinator, Leader) and other designated and trained <br />personnel having the primary responsibility to work as a team to ensure that all personnel follow defined emergency <br />procedures. <br /> All ERT members are committed to recognizing when circumstances prevail that require additional outside <br />emergency services be notified immediately. ERT members know to take supporting roles when professionals <br />are on the scene from outside emergency services. <br /> Knowledge of necessary procedures and actions to take (see section Ill) <br /> Knowledge of and ability to contact any/all outside emergency services promptly
