AENICAN
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGCMENT CORP.
January 8, 1986
Mr. Lewis Garcia
Holly Sugar Company
P.O. Box 60
Tracy, CA 95376
RE: TOXIC MATERIALS REMOVAL/DISPOSAL -- CORN PLANT
Dear Mr. Garcia:
On November 27 & 28, 1985, the American Environmental Management
Corporation (AEMC) conducted a detail inventory and sampling of
all toxic waste materials existing at Holly Sugar's abandoned
Corn Plant in Tracy, California. During December 1985, AEMC
performed an in-house hazardous waste characterization (HAZ-CAT)
and compatibility test on each sample collected during the two
day inventory at the Corn Plant. A complete report of the site
inventory, sampling, and the in-house HAZ-CAT is enclosed for
your review. AEMC is sending a copy of this report to Mr. Hugh
Mc Grade, State Department of Health Services. A final invoice
for all the abovementioned services is being prepared and will be
submitted to your attention next week.
AEMC estimates the cost to remove and dispose of all toxic
materials existing at the Corn Plant site to be -*33,711. This
cost estimate does not include the removal and disposal of
contaminated soils existing onsite. AEMC's cost for the
excavation, removal and disposal of soils contaminated with
petroleum hydrocarbons is $196 per cubic yard. AEMC invoices all
toxic waste management services on a time and materials basis.
AEMC would be able to commence with onsite clean-up activities at
the Corn Plant site within 5 working days of your direction to
proceed. Please contact me should you have any questions
regarding the information presented.
Sincerely,
C.
C)—Jim C. Schuck
Environmental Specialist
Enclosure
