,,#awl `.
The soil boring located hydrologically downgradient from the former tanks will be further advanced to
approximately 35 feet below grade and completed as a groundwater monitoring well. The well will be
constructed of 2 -inch diameter PVC casing with 0.010 inch slotted screen installed from the bottom of
the boring to approximately 5 feet above first encountered groundwater to allow for seasonal
groundwater fluctuations. A two foot thick bentonite plug will be placed above the filter pack. The
remaining annular space will be grouted with a cement slurry to ground surface.
The well will be developed, purged and sampled prior to placing the bentonite plug and the cement
grout. Groundwater samples collected from the well will be delivered under chain of custody to Argon
Laboratories and analyzed for TPHg and BTEX.
A technical summary report will be prepared which will include all analytical results, a site plan with
sample locations, conclusions, and recommendations. If appropriate, the report will include an
evaluation of risk to public health posed by subsurface contaminants remaining at the site.
The well will be purged and sampled approximately 30 days after the first sampling event has been
completed to confirm initial results.
The field work is scheduled to be performed on Friday, June 14, 1996 if PHS/EHD can accommodate
Mr. Ranuio's request for expedited review of this workplan. All work will be performed in accordance
with the existing site safety plan on file with PHS/EHD, and Ground Zero's Quality Assurance/Quality
Control (QA/QC) Plan, Attachment B.
Please call John Lane or Greg Stahl at Ground Zero if you have any questions regarding the project.
Respectfully,
Ground Zero Analysis, Inc.
John P.
