GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC.
1714 Main Street
Escalon,California 95320-1927
Telephone: (209)838-9888
Facsimile: (209)838-9883 ffI
RECE
ED
March 31, 2008 APR - 12008
Ms. Lori Duncan ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department PERMIT/SERVICES
600 East Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Workplan for Additional Site Investigation
640 N. El Dorado Street, Stockton, California
Site Code: 1090
Dear Ms. Duncan:
This workplan is submitted by Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (Ground Zero) on behalf of Gene
Gabbard Inc. to address San Joaquin Environmental Health Department's (EHD) December 28,
2007 request for additional investigation at the subject site. The location of the site is shown on
Figure 1.
SITE BACKGROUND
The site currently houses a specialty automotive sales and service center. Previous site occupants
operated a 250-gallon underground storage tank (UST) for storage of waste oil. The UST was
removed under permit from EHD on March 26, 1997. A soil sample collected from beneath the
tank contained elevated levels of petroleum hydrocarbons, lead, and volatile organic compounds
(VOCs). Table 1 summarizes the analytical results of soil samples collected during the UST
removal.
Initial Soil Boring Investigation
Ground Zero directed the drilling and sampling of eight soil borings (SB 1 through SB 8) near the
former UST in January and October 1999 to investigate the vertical and lateral extent of soil
contamination and to determine if groundwater beneath the facility had been impacted by past
site operations. Laboratory analyses of soil and "grab" groundwater samples collected during the
investigations indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons and VOCs had impacted soil and
groundwater in the immediate vicinity of the former UST. The vertical extent of soil
contamination was defined at the source (SB3), as no petroleum hydrocarbons or VOCs were
detected deeper than 31 feet below ground surface (bgs).
GAGR0UNDZE\GABBARD\workp1ms\wp_0308.doc
