Thi;Interim Progress Report describes the results of a pilot test <br /> conducted to assess the applic.-bility of in-situ vapor extraction technology for remediation <br /> of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated vadose soil at the subject site. This report also <br /> includes analytical results of soh'boring samples obtained during the installation of the pilot <br /> test system. The pilot test and soil analyses activities have been conducted in accordance f <br /> with Remediation Services,Inc.(RS)Draft Remedial Work Pian dated September 24, 1991. <br /> f <br /> 2.0 SI:'E BACKGROUND ' <br /> Apache Plastics, L.P. (AP) manufactures extruded plastic pipe at this facility. The facility <br /> is located in a mixed commercial district and is bounded on the east by Port Stockton Food <br /> Distributors,Inc,on the west by Kelvard Refrigeration and Appliance Co., on the south by <br /> an auto parts distributor,and on the north,across E.Fremont St.,by a car wash facility and <br /> Stockton City Taxi Cab Co. (Figure 2, Site Map). i <br /> In August 1988, one 1000-gallon underground gasoline storage tank was removed from the <br /> north side of the AP building. Gasoline contamination was detected in the soil beneath the <br /> tank emplacement. The project history and investigation results are reported in RS's <br /> September 24, 1991 Draft Remedial Work Plan. <br /> 3.0 PHASE I ACTIVITIES COMPLETED TO-DATE <br /> Prior to the commencement of the drilling and installation of the vapor extraction well and <br /> manometer points, appropriate permits were acquired from the City of Stockton, San <br /> Joaquin Air Pollution Control District and San Joaquin County, Environmental Health <br /> Division. <br /> In October 1991, RS installed one vapor extraction well and two manometer points located <br /> approximately as shown on Figure 2. The pilot test blower, piping and air pollution <br /> abatement equipment were installed in December. On December 17-19, 1991, RS <br /> conducted a three-day pilot test of the vapor extraction system. <br /> 1 <br /> REMEDIATION , <br /> SERVICES. INC. <br />
