1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 BACKGROUND A 1,000-gallon unleaded gasoline underground storage tank (UST), piping and dispenser island were removed from the property at 2050 W. Fremont Street in August 1992. The results of tank closure and soil sampling were published by Kroeker Environmental Services on August 27, 1992. Earth Tech was not present during the excavation, tank removal, and subsequent sampling. The owner of the property at the time reported that the tank appeared to be in good condition. Samples collected from the bottom of the tank excavation by Twinings Laboratory findicated residual hydrocarbons in the soil, as summarized in Table 1. A detailed scope of work was presented in Earth Tech's Work Plan for Additional Subsurface Investigation in the Vicinity of the Former 1,000-gallon Gasoline Tank at the National Advertising Company Facility, 2050 W. Fremont Street, Stockton, CA 95205, included in Appendix A.
