6ETTLER-RYAN INC <br />WORK PLAN FOR MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION <br />at <br />Former Chevron Service Station #9-5775 <br />301 West Kettleman Lane <br />Lodi, California <br />Report No. 346408.04-1 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />At the request of Chevron Products Company (Chevron), Gettler-Ryan Inc. has prepared this Work <br />Plan to install four groundwater monitoring wells and drill one exploratory soil boring at the subject <br />site. The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the vertical and lateral extent of petroleum <br />hydrocarbon impact to the soil and groundwater beneath the site. The proposed scope of work <br />includes: conducting a'/z-mile radius well survey; obtaining the required well installation and soil <br />boring permits; installing four groundwater monitoring wells and drill one exploratory soil boring; <br />collecting soil samples for possible chemical analysis; developing and sampling the newly installed <br />wells; surveying the newly installed wells; analyzing selected soil and groundwater samples; and <br />preparing a report presenting the findings of the investigation. This work was requested in a letter <br />from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services (SJCPHS) dated October 21, 1998. <br />The scope of work described in this Work Plan is intended to comply with the State of California <br />Water Resources Control Board's Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks (L UFT) Manual and California <br />Underground Storage Tank Regulations, 1994, the California Regional Water Quality Control Board <br />(CRWQCB) Tri -Regional Board StaffRecommendationsforPreliminaryInvestigation and Evaluation <br />of Underground Tank Sites, and SJCPHS guidelines. <br />SITE DESCRIPTION <br />The subject site is located between South Lee Avenue and South Pleasant Avenue adjacent to <br />Kettleman Lane in Lodi, California (Figure 1). The site was most recently developed as a service <br />station with four service bays, three dispenser islands, one sales kiosk, three 10,000 -gallon gasoline <br />underground storage tanks (USTs), one 1,000 -gallon waste oil UST, one 550 -gallon previously <br />abandoned waste oil UST, and one in -ground hydraulic hoist. All aboveground and subsurface <br />facilities have been removed. The site is currently an unpaved vacant lot.
