(GR) collected soil samples at the subject site in
order to pre -profile soil in areas to be excavated, in order to facilitate direct igading and removal of the soil from the site.
The work performed was originally proposed in GR work plan 0346408.10, Disposal Projiling of Soil, dated April 6, 2000.
This work was approved by the San deaquin County Public Health Services (S)CPIRS) on April 10, 2000. A copy of
SJCPJfS soil boring permit 0022385 is attached_
On April 12, 2000, GR collected icn composite soil samples from three areas at the site: Service Bay, Car Wash Reclamation
Tank, and reverse Osmosis Tank areas (Figure 2). Soil sampling was performed using a GeoFrobe. GeoProbe activities
were performed by Fisch Environmental (C57 ~6$3865). In the Service Bay Area, samples were collected at 2, 4, 6, and 8
feet below ground surface (bgs) from five borings, and samples were collected at 2, 5, 10, and 13 feet b, -,s from four borings
in the Reverse Osmosis Tank arra. The four samples collected from each of these borings were composited into one sample
for analysis- Two borings were advanced in the Car Wash Reclaimation Tank area, and samples were collected at 4 and 7
feet bgs. The four samples in this area were submitted as one composite sample.
Ten composite soil samples were submitted to Sequoia Analytical (ELAP 41624) for analysis. Each composite sample was
analyzed for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TFHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), and
methyl ten -butyl ether (MtBE) by LHS LUFT Method, and for lead by EPA 6000f7000 Series Methods. Laboratory reports
and chain -of -custody are attached. Results of the chemical analyses are summarized in Table I. Soil in the Service Bay and
Reverse Osmoms Tank areas had minor concentrations of ethylbcnzene and xylenes up to 0.0921 and 0.337 parts per million
(ppm), respectively. Soil samples from the Car Wash Reclairnation Tank area were nun -detect for TPN-, BTEX, and 114tBE_
Based on these results, soil excavated from the Service Bay and Reverse Osmosis Tank areas will be hauled from the site by
Chevron for disposal at BF1 landfill in Livermore, California. Soil excavated from the Car Wash Reclairnation Tank area
will be stockpiled on-site for use during subsequent construction activities -
If you
ctivities.
Ifyou have any questions, please cal[ us in Sacramento at (916) 631-1300.
Sin rely,
David Herzog
GCol a15t
tephen J _Carter
Senior Geologist, R.G- 5577
No. 5577 ) *
Attachments: Table 1.
