BOARD <br />CENTRAL VALLEY REGION <br />CLEANUP AND ABATEMENT ORDER NO. <br />FOR <br />CHEVRON PRODUCTS COMPANY <br />IVERN AND ROGER BAFFONT <br />FINI <br />301 WEST KETTLEMAN LANE, LODI, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br />The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, (hereafter Board) funds <br />that: <br />1. The former Clievron Station #9-5775 at 301 West Kettleman Lane in Loin operated as a gasoline <br />dispensing facility by Chevron Products Company until August 1998. The property was and is <br />now owned by Ivern and Roger Ba.ffoni. Therefore, the Chevron Products Company, and Ivern <br />and Roger Baloni, are hereafter collectively referred to as .Discharger. <br />2 <br />On 24 August 1998, five underground storage tanks (USTs), dispenser islands and associated <br />product piping were removed. Three soil samples, collected from the excavation and submitted <br />for analysis of petroleum hydrocarbons in August 1998, showed the maximum concentrations <br />with depth as: <br />Sample <br />Dcpth feet <br />TPI -Ig <br />(mg/kg) <br />Benzene <br />mg/k <br />14.5 <br />14,000 <br />84 <br />16 <br />880 <br />ND <br />22 <br />2,300 <br />4.1 <br />MtBE <br />me/k8 <br />56 <br />11 <br />330 <br />TPHg — total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br />MtBE = methyl tertiary butyl ether <br />2. In January 1999, five soil borings were drilled, and four of the borings were completed as <br />monitoring wells (MW -1 through MW -4) screened from 45 to 65 feet bgs. Groundwater samples <br />collected on 3 February 1999 were found to contain up to: <br />• 11,000 µg/1 of TPHg; <br />• 6,800 µg/1 of benzene; <br />• 62,000 µg/I of MIBE; <br />+ 2,400 µg/l of ethyl tertiary butyl ether (ETBE); and <br />• 780 µg/1 of tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME). <br />3. Subsequent soil and groundwater investigations were completed, and one extraction well and <br />five additional monitoring wells were installed.
