•
•
Chevron Products Company page 3
Former Chevron service Station #9-5775, 301 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi, California October 31, 2002
Between June 25 and September 24, 2002, the GWE system discharged a total of 1,276,651
gallons of treated groundwater over a period of 92 days (Table 4). As of September 24,
2002, the GWE system has treated a total of 4,329,691 gallons. Calculated discharge rates
during the 3Q02 monitoring period ranged from 6.33 to 9.78 gallons per minute (gpm).
During the 3Q02 the system extracted an estimated 0.3 pounds of TPHg and 0.5 pounds of
MtBE. To date, the system has extracted approximately 8.1 pounds of TPHg, 0.2 pounds of
benzene, and 84.3 pounds of MtBE. Plots of GWE system mass removal trends and influent
groundwater TPHg, benzene, and MtBE concentrations versus time are shown on Figures 6
and 7, respectively.
3.2 Soil Vapor Extraction System
The Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) system is comprised of four vapor wells (VE -1 through
VE -4), connected by mechanical piping to a 5 horsepower (hp) positive -displacement blower,
and a catalytic oxidizer. Vapors from the soil are removed under vacuum from the blower
and petroleum hydrocarbons in these vapors are destroyed by a catalytic oxidizer, prior to
discharging the air stream to the atmosphere. The operation of the SVE system is permitted
by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD).
To assess effectiveness of the SVE, process samples were collected once per month from the
vapor stream before (INFL) and after (EFFL) the catalytic oxidizer. Each sample was
analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and MtBE. Maximum concentrations of detected constituents are
presented below.
IAChevron1957751Periodic Monitoring\Quarterly Progress Reports1200213rd Quarter -2002 Progress Report.doc
Maximum Constituent Concentration (go)
Sampling Port
July 2 through September 24, 2002
MtBE
TBA
EtBE
TAME
Ethanol
Methanol
INFL
71
<13
4.7
<2.0
<500
<400
MID -1
<2.5
<11
<2.0
<2.0
<100
<400
MID -2
<2.0
<12
<2.0
<2.0
<100
<400
EFFL
<2.0
<10
<2.0
<2.0
<100
<400
Expt_anations:
< Indicates the constituent was not present at or above the method reporting limit shown
Between June 25 and September 24, 2002, the GWE system discharged a total of 1,276,651
gallons of treated groundwater over a period of 92 days (Table 4).
